Why are there gas cylinders chained to some telephone poles?
Some telephone/power poles have compressed gas cylinders chained to them, as if they will be used at that location, but I can't figure out why an electrician would need compressed gas. Any ideas?

That is zero-moisture nitrogen used to purge sealed cable conduits. Mositure eventually increases crosstalk among otherwise insulated wires.
