My opinion and not anyone else's, not trying to tell you what to do, but this is how i was with my first.

I wasn't thinking on breathing when i was having contractions a minute apart. I was telling the nurses to get the doctor in there to deliver my baby.

Just breath slow, helps with getting oxygen to your baby. Don't hold your breath(some do from the pressure or pain, im that type)

Other than that I say screw techniques, lol

Source(s): This is my opinion from my first baby i had. Pretty much will be the same but hopefully faster with my second. Just want him out so i can be with him and be able to bend over, lol.

I don't know about Lamaze but if you use a deep breathing relaxation technique you should be able to keep your mind and body calm. The more you are able to stay relaxed the less pain you will feel. Pain will be there but the more you fight the pain the worse it will feel. Practice relaxation techniques daily so that by time you go into labor achieving that state of relaxation is like second nature to your body.

I've had 3 and never found anything that actually changes the pain apart from an epidural I guess. I had all mine natural with nothing but I guess breathing helps as it calms your mind . The pain is worth it in the end but.

NO....they help you relax to get through the contractions....the mor erelaxed you are the easier it is to deal with the contractions, take them one at a time and relax and remember, no matter how much it hurts...that gorgeous baby is the result!!

It's that you're distracting yourself & "meditating". In my birth classes our nurse told us everyone forgets the breathing techniques so to just remember jingle bells.

Blow out to the first part of jingle bells the song; Jing-le Bells, Jing-le Bells.....get it? :)

To be honest when people were telling me to breath I just wanted to smack them. That being said it obviously works for some people, so its not going to hurt any more to try it.
