We are a Nation Of Immigrants. Why from 1892 - 1954 Ellis Island processed 12 Million, WHAT?

Ellis Island is a symbol of America’s immigrant heritage. From 1892 to 1954, this immigrant depot processed the greatest tide of incoming humanity in the nation’s history. Nearly twelve million landed here in their search of freedom of speech and religion, and for economic opportunity.

So it took 62 years to legally process 12 million Legally? 193 thousand a year! Congress Is trying to make it seem like all of us crammed through in a few weeks!

See Now congress works so efficiantly they can get 20 miilion though in a few weeks. Our Government is selling us out on this one................

The government has indeed sold out the citizens of America on this issue.

The bill is amnesty at the expense of the taxpayers. We will pay for their legal fees, we will pay to school the illegal children, we will pay the taxes they are excused from paying, our citizens that are gang-members will not get the same free-pass that illegal gang-members get, we will suffer crime from the criminals that get immediate status without a background check.

It is amnesty, I do not care how you dress it up, it is still amnesty. You can put a silk dress on a pig but, the pig is still a pig.

It is laughable to think our government works efficiently, except when it comes to a$s-covering maneuvers.

Since one of my family members came through Ellis Island I do wonder how their tough route they that they never were upset about since they saw how much good this country stood for is now seen as minor since the new "immigrants" do not assimilate in any way. And just think 1892 to 1954 we still had many parts of our country just beginning to grow and needed new people - just look at parts of California then and now. Where are all these people going to go when we add the next 12 million you know this will create as the last bill did also.

I'm watching all the responses say "Vote the bastards out!"

I've also been watching the entire copulation with Mexico taking place over the last 4-5 years. Security and Prosperity Partnership: This one is being pushed on us, we have no say.

Trans-Texas Corridor: It's happening, we have no choice.

OKC Port of Entry: Sovereign Mexican territory, It's done. Did I vote on this?

Mexican Trucking "Pilot" program: They are going to roll, I didn't get a say in it.

Immigration Reform: HA! It will be pushed through. Nothing could stop this short of armed insurrection.

All of these measures are eroding our sovereignty. Clinton did his bit, GHWB did his part, so did Reagan. This has continued since 1913 and it's not going to stop.

Quit going under the false premise that your vote matters. Republicrat or Demican, if they get in a position of power it's because they are anointed by the powers that be......

Thor girl our gov't isn't selling us out on THIS one, They are just selling us out, period! Wake up America!!!!

The most disingenuous argument put forth by the proponents of the Senate's immigration bill is that we are a nation of immigrants, therefore we owe it to those in the country to provide a pathway to citizenship.

The problem with that argument is that we are actually a nation of LEGAL immigrants. To compare the immigrants that passed through Elllis Island with those that are sneaking across the border is offensive.

Call your Senators and Congressman and raise heck. Congress feels emboldened because the sheeple are too busy with Paris Hilton and American Idol to show their disgust.

Yeah, good point. Almost everyone talks as though we have unlimited space and unlimited economic growth on the horizon. Pat Buchanan has a great book on this topic, "State of Emergency". I've only read part of it, but I can tell it's fact packed and well-researched. And, where he says something that sounds outrageous such as the US is being "invaded", he backs it up.

You've got it right and how can anyone defend the republicans or democrats that sell out America? How people can vote for Ted Kennedy, Trent Lott, McCain and the rest of the sell out crew is unbelievable?

We have 20 million illegal immigrants in this country from all over the world and no one is going to support the enormous costs of deporting them all. We have to be practical and realistic.

You can rant and rave all you want but we need serious immigration reform now.

Thanks to the Neocons, Democrats and corporations the United States will be a balkanized, third world hellhole with no middle class. Things are going to get worse. A LOT WORSE.

I can't figure out what it will take for Americans to take back their country.

If we don't export their jobs we import illegals. We pay with OUR tax money when one of them goes to a hospital ER. We pay for their anchor kid. We pay to house them in prision.

And Washington is trying to reward them with amnisty. It's damn crazy!
