Cat litter trays.?

Does anyone know where I can buy a cat litter tray made of stainless steel. I find the plastic ones flimsey and the bottom of the tray gets ripped up by the cat's claws.

    Dear Trixie,

Sorry I am not really answering your question but I have a bit of advice..............

I use big storage containers for my cat litter boxes, those boxes you use for children's toys or general storage, they are usually quite solid and keep in more of the litter than normal litter tray.

I would use clumping litter then you can easily remove the soiled parts. Sometimes the cats scratch furiously trying to cover up the soiled part. Cats are amazingly clean! In fact while I am clearing out the litter boxes my cats sometimes queue to use the fresh litter, rather than using it beforehand!

I would not put too much litter in. A storage box has plenty of space so you keep the litter at a minimum, topping up quite often.

    Hope this helps, good luck!

First of all, do they wee all over the house or just out of the litter tray? If they are weeing all over the house.. put tin foil down on the most targeted places that they wee, this scares them as they dont like the sound. If they are using 1 litter tray for 2 cats.. then it could be because they are marking their territory, i suggest getting 2 litter trays and placing them in different parts of the house, that way, they will have their own territory. My cats used to do this and i placed tin foil down on the places they peed the most and it seemed to have worked, i also bought 3 litter trays and they stopped peeing everywhere, they stuck to their chosen litter tray. She could also take them to the vets and get them checked out. Good luck, hope all goes ok!

I have had the same plastic litter pans for years. I even use some of the old ones for oil pans for the vehicles. I would look in a livestock catelog and see if they sell any stainless steel round feeding pans. The feeding pans we use are rubber and they dupe well for a litter pan and they are much more flexible and stronger than a regular litter pan. If you don't want to try that. I do think they make stainless feed pans too.

All of these answers are good. I use the bottom of large heavy duty plastic storage containers. They are probably 4" high on the sides, so the cats don't kick the litter out and are quite sturdy They are wider and longer than traditional litter pans.

we have been using the same Plastic litter box for like 7 yrs now and i dont find it flimsy at all jsut put alot of litter in it so the cats claws dont have to reach the bottom it might just be the kind of box and the plastic they use try and find a sturdy one

I put newspaper on the bottom then line the tray with a black bin liner put more newspaper in then add the cat litter. Makes it much easier to clean.

you must have a realllly cheap plastic litter box. I have three cats and two hooded litter boxes that I have been using for 14 yrs....

also, use nail clippers to clip my cats claws since all are indoor cats. I just hook the sharp tips with the nail clippers and only clip off the tips

Use a roasting tin - when my baby kitties were starting the litter tray I used a shallow baking tray for them to get in easily as they were so teeny... but you can get a big roaster maybeor even have a look at storage boxes which are sturdier

If you want metal, you may have to go aluminium instead of stainless steel.

And for the size that would be comfortable for a cat - catering sizes rather than regular kitchen sizes.

Check out this link - scroll down a bit to get the deeper and bigger sized trays.

I used "Bakeware" +catering as my search criterion

I would go to Petco. They have everything for pets. I have a cat myself. We have a plastic litter box and that doesn;t happen to mine. I got mine from Petco. It works well I have had it for 5 years. Two cats sared it.
