Proceed as you would with an equation, collect like terms, etc. Recall: Multiplying or dividing by a negative #, changes the direction of the inequality sign.
6x + 1 > 5x
x > -1.
[Graph an open circle at x = -1 & shade in the direction of the inequality sign, to the right.]
-2x + 8 < 11 + x
-3x < 3
x > -1. [Mult./Divide by negative #, changes the direction of the inequality sign.]
5x + 7 ≥ 4x + 4
x ≥ -3.
4x + 2 < 3x - 1
x < -3.

6x + 1 > 5x
subtract
X>-1
-2x + 8 < 11 + x
change sides
-3 < -3x
divide
x>1
5x + 7 ⥠4x + 4
subtract
x ⥠-3
4x + 2 < 3x - 1
subtract
X < -3

x>-1 so on the number line draw an open circle at -1 and then draw an arrow to the right.
x>-1 and that is the same as above
x>/=3 so on the number line draw a closed circle at 3 and then draw an arrow to the right.
x<-3 so on the number line draw an open circle at -3 and then draw an arrow to the left.

change the sign to equal, and get x alone on one side. if u had to divide by a negative at any point, change the sign to the opposite of wat it was. if u didnt divide by a negative, go back(from the = sign) to the sign it was before.
