Attention guitar aficionados/collectors - need blue book value...?

for a 1959 (?) Fender Fretless Precision Bass guitar. Its serial number is 3296**. It is in very good to excellent condition with its original case. My dad has asked me to sell it for him, so if anyone out there in Y!A land can help me, I would greatly appreciate it!

According to the Blue Book of Electric Guitars, your P Bass is a 1958.

In mint condition (as new, virtually unplayed) condition it has a RETAIL value of $8,500.00. In average (played but original) shape it has a RETAIL value of about $3,000.00.

These prices is what you would expect to pay at a music store that specializes in vintage instruments. Selling it outright to a store will get you 25% to 35% less, while selling it to a collector is a crap shoot.

As you get ready to sell it, make sure you don't do ANYTHING to it... don't even clean it. If you do clean it do NOT use furniture cleaner- go to a music shop and get a small bottle of non silicone guitar cleaner.

You might want to get an appraisal. I would suggest that you talk to George Gruhn of Gruhn Guitars... just do a web search.
