Dolce Vita...Italian word...Meaning ?

I adopted a kitten from the animal shelter a week ago. I've not named her yet as I wanted to wait and see what name seemed to suit her. And I think I've decided on the name Vita . . . Dolce Vita.

Through circumstances these past few days and people I've met I heard of the name of Vita with the added word of Dolce . . . Dolce Vita. I thought this name might suit my new kitten.

I'm a pasty white California girl who celebates all cultures yet I speak only english. So...inquiring here . . . What do the words Dolce Vita mean ? I was told that the language might be Italian.

Thanks for help.

.

Update:

The Sweet Life . . . The Good Life. . . Wow...I like that ! With my kitten being adopted from the animal rescue shelter and in light of the positive forward minded transitions in life lately...that name will suite her beautifully. So, I've found my new kittens name...Vita !

She is gentle, is confident with my 8 yr. old cat Mia...She's well tempered with a bit of healhy feist to her...the name Vita speaks of her. She's sleeping atop the printer next to me.

Dolce Vita ! ! !

.

Thanks for replies !

    Yes, it's Italian.

The real translation is 'sweet life'.

It's an expression used in many languages, which means a good life, as mentioned here before.
