More disappointing part of Dale Jr's Hendrick move....?
I have heard Junior fans that dont mind the move to Hendrick or any of the changes that will come with it, but the ones that do have problems talk about 3 things:
1) Teaming with Gordon
2) Possible not running wit hthe #8
3) Signing with Sony for main sponsorship rather than continue with Bud
Which if any of these do you find most disappointing about the move?
Maybe the Sony isnt a done deal yet, but I had a friend tell me it was. maybe they are still waiting to see what happens with bringing Bud over before the Sony sponsorship takes full effect

If you are a true Jr fan, you won't care that he's at HMS.
A sponsorship is $$$. Everyone needs $$$$.
What I want to see is Jr in the #8 Bud because that's his identity. But it will be up to NASCAR, the owners and the sponsors to work this out. Remember its all about the money. I think that Teresa E will give up the #8. She's made so many mistakes. There must be someone out there trying to right her wrongs.
Or it might be a #5 Budweiser! Would that be so bad? Budweiser and Jr go hand-in-hand. or #25. Let Casey drive the #5 like his father. But he doesn't want to be in his fathers shadow no more than Jr does.
So my answer is signing with Sony - unless it was the #8 Sony. Jr could drive different car for different races like Jeff does. It's nice to have lots of sponsors.
GO HMS!!! #5, #24, #25, #48. I'm waiting until all this shakes out to put new numbers on my car. Just bought a new Honda Accord!! It's great have 4 drivers to route for. Increases the odds to be celebrating in Victory lane.

1) teaming with Gordon i dont' think will be a bad thing just because of the fact that Gordon is more experienced and can help Jr. out i mean maybe Jeff knows things Jr. hasn't quite figured out. although i dislike Jr. and love Gordon. i really didn't like his decision just cause i always believed you couldn't be a Jr. and Gordon fan. lol
2) yea if hes not running with the 8 there is going to be a lot of money people have wasted on products and stuff but look on the bright side on day they will get more than they paid for it b/c people will be like you remember when Jr. drived the #8. so him not driving the 8 now might be a bad thing but it will be all worth it in the long run.
3) i heard he was defiantly signing with Sony but Bud was going to be still a sponsor but one of the smaller ones like Jeff Gordon's main sponsor is DuPont and his small one is Pepsi. Jr.s would be main Sony and small Bud. but still this could come good in the long run cause of the same reason as #2 your merchandise from now will be worth more.
but the most disappointing to me is #1 YOU CAN'T BE JR AND GORDON FAN lol but i kno there are some out there who are.

Although I am a huge Gordon fan, I still like Junior. I think the most disappointing part of Junior's move to Hendrick is if he doesn't keep Bud as his sponsor. Then it will be hard to spot him on the track. The teaming with Gordon doesn't bother me, they're friends anyway. Not running with the #8 isn't that bad, but it wouldn't be right if Junior is in a car that has a 5 or 25 on the side instead of an 8.

I'm not a Jr fan (not a 24 or 48 fan either), but I think it'll be weird if he'll drive another number with another sponsor. It'll take some getting used to for the fans, but that's about it. I mean it's "just" a number.
But I think the biggest change for him will be going from a team where he was "the star", to a team with 2 past champions who both show consistency weekend after weekend. Not that I think it'll be a problem for him, but it might be a pretty big change.

1) As far as teaming with Gordon, this only goes to show how short-sighted some (not the majority) of Jr. fans can be. In any sport, given the chance to team up with the most dominant team and/or individual, who wouldn't jump at the chance (see NY Yankees)
2) There will be a lot of phone calls between Hendrick and DEI in the offseason, I would bet, to try and get Theresa to give up the #8. Not only is it Jr.'s number, but it was his grandfather's as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see a deal happen to alow Jr. to continue driving the #8.
3) The Sony deal is a personal services contract, not to be confused with a sponsorship deal for his team. This just means that, just like we see commercials with Jr. advertising Wrangler jeans, we will soon see them with him hawking computers or TVs.The Bud sponsorship is up in the air because Hendrick already has 4 primary sponsors under contract through next season. I personally think that a lot of wheeling and dealing will go on in the off-season, especially if Kyle Busch ends up at DEI...maybe Rick Hendrick and DEI strike a deal where Kyle takes his #5 and the Kellogg's sponsorship to DEI in return for the rights to the #8, Budweiser steps in as Jr.'s primary sponsor (don't forget, Bud has history with Hendrick).
What I find most disappointing (and this is coming from a Gordon fan, though I have a lot of respect for Jr.'s driving abilities and think he will win a chamionship within 3 years at HMS), is that some of his fans are so focused on their hatred of Gordon or their obsession with the #8 or Budweiser that they can't see the big picture...Jr. is going to a team with a proven history of WINNING and to an owner that has a history of providing his teams with the best equipment. What Jr. fan could possibly be less than thrilled with this deal?

Not being a Jr. fan but liking him anyway, the only thing that i'm not going to like is if he doesnt run the #8, most drivers are more indentifable during a race for me by their #. I still yell at Martin when the #6 wipes out (Ragan) and number changes always take adjustment for me.But this is so minor compared to the upside for Lil E joining Hendricks.By the way I wasnt aware Sony was a done deal at all.Happy Race Day!!!!

The most disappointing part of this is the fact that Jr will still be racing and his fans are band wagoners

The only disappointing part of Junior's move is that his fans might have to lay out more money for updated merchandise.
Geez. All that #8 Budweiser gear is now out-of-date. THAT'S what ticks off most Junior fans I know the most.
Junior couldn't have made a better move for HIMSELF. He's now with the one team where he can truly contend for a championship. Any true Junior fan would see that.
Last I heard, Visa was the top runner for sponsorship, if Bud doesn't follow & Kellogg's doesn't stick around.

sony will not be his sponser, so get your facts straight before making yourself look stupid. he signed an endoirsment deal with sony, where he will do commercials for them and stuff, kinda like what he's done with wrangler jeans the last couple of years. the only thing disapointing about the move is that martin truex couldn't come with him. maybe after the 2008 season when his contract at DEI expires.

I really don't like the fact that it levels the competition. It would be more competitive if everyone used their own engines and and cars and team knowledge and won on those principles.
