Swimming ok after having a baby 4 weeks ago?

I was just wondering if it is ok to go swimming after just having a baby 4 weeks ago. It was a vaginal birth, no tearing or anything. I have not heard anything saying no but I just got invited swimming and it got me thinking if it is ok or if I should wait the six weeks. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    are you still bleeding?

i would think no, since sexual activity is restricted to 6 wks. swimming in a pool FULL of chemicals might not be a great idea right now.

    ask your OB

You do not have got to wait 6 weeks, you simply must wait till your bleeding stops and also you believe able to have intercourse once more. I requested my GP and my midwife and each instructed me of this. Many specialists now too agree that it's dependable to have intercourse as long as lochia has stopped, and when you do it earlier than your six week verify it way you'll document any issues for your health practitioner. I had a moment measure tear for the duration of supply which was once stitched and it was once nonetheless satisfactory for me to begin having intercourse once more 2 weeks after supply (which was once while my bleeding stopped and was once while I felt able to have intercourse once more). The "six week rule" is not regulation, it is not even obligatory scientific train. It's simply what a few folks decide upon to do. You're some distance higher trusting your possess emotions and frame, you'll be able to realize while you are able - it could take 6 days, it could take 6 months. Don't pass judgement on anyone or verbally spank them seeing that you waited six weeks and they did not. You might be within the early levels of being pregnant or it might be your interval arriving. Personally I could deliver it per week, if no interval arrives then do a house scan. If it is nonetheless bad then talk for your GP for recommendation. Best of good fortune and I wish you get the results you wish x

At 4 weeks if you are still bleeding I would hold off on going. The reason being you are not suppose to wear tampons this soon after having a baby.. However if you are finished with all the bleeding and have had your first period then you should be fine to go. Call the doctors office and see what they say about it... Congratulations and Best of Luck...

You COULD go swimming, but just to prevent pool water from causing any sort of troubles, I'd recommend getting ahold of a DivaCup or maybe Instead. They're actually alternative menstrual products, which don't dry you out or cause the issues that tampons do, but they are inserted, and have been approved for use just after giving birth.
