Does anyone actually want global warming to happen?
I know there are a lot of people who say they don't believe global warming is happening.
There are also some people that say they believe global warming is happening, and they want to stop it, but then they seem to do everything they can to make sure it happens, (like G. W. Bush).
Does anyone know if there have been any government officials of any countries that have actually said they wanted global warming to happen?
Just curious

There's a few groups and a very, very small minority of scientists that claim that global warming is a good thing, but those organizations are funded by large oil companies that specialize in public relations and government lobbying. You can learn more about them here: http://www.exxonsecrets.org/
Aside from that, the only "beneficiaries" to global warming would be areas like Siberia, Canada and northern Europe. As a result of the warming, the frozen permafrsot in northern places will defrost into fruitful soil for agriculture production over the course of hundreds of years. The United States and basically everywhere else will be hit pretty hard by drought, scientists say.
That's not to say those nations support actually want global warming to occur. If the US was to lose ground in agricultural production, there'd be serious economic downturn in the global community.

I don't believe that any government people want global warming to happen, but many don't care or beilieve it's natural (which it isn't). I know that Fred Thompson has no reaction to it and just wants to coninue drilling oil and grow the economy (bad thing to do by the way during a major global crisis). Don't vote for him.
Anyway, global warming is real and humans are responsible for 99% of it. I think 1% is natural.

It's not so much that people want it to happen. It's more like people value their own short-term personal conveniences too much and/or are too lazy to do what is necessary in order to STOP it from happening. People don't want to give up their gas guzzling cars, (or even drive slower), big screen TVs, limit the air conditioning in the summer, heat in the winter, or recycle their plastic bottles, or shut down plants powered by fossil fuels because it would "cost too much" to do so. And it's too much effort to take the cell phone to the electronic recycling center when the trash is right there, and how much quicker it is to dump other stuff in the trash instead of sorting them for recycling.
This was the whole premise behind the movie "An Inconvenient Truth." Take a look at it, if you haven't already.

Let's think about what it would take to stop Global Warming.
To stop Global Warming we must cut carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels to zero.
That means we must have a worldwide ban on the use of fossil fuel.
In order to accomplish a worldwide ban on the use of fossil fuels we must shut down all motorized forms of transportation. That is eliminate all automobiles, motor scooters, motorcycles, trucks, trains, planes and shipping.
Next we must ban the heating of all homes, offices, and factories world wide, even when it is below zero degrees outside.
Next we must ban the cooking of all food world wide.
Next we must ban the heating of all water for washing and bathing.
Essentially we must learn to bathe in cold water. That is all of us, worldwide with no exceptions.
Next we must ban all manufacturing, steel making and cement making, again world wide, no exceptions.
Next we must ban the use of fossil fuel to generate electricity.
The People's Republic of China has said they will not reduce their use of fossil fuels voluntarily, much less ban the use of fossil fuels.
The People's Republic of China alone uses enough fossil fuel and emits enough carbon dioxide on its own to cause Global Warming even if you had 100% compliance on a fossil fuel ban in all of the other countries of the world.
We do not have the political will or the military capability to enforce such a ban on China
Essentially Global Warming is the inevitable result of human activity on this earth. We cannot prevent Global Warming.
Fortunately we can ameliorate the effects of Global Warming.
The sea levels will rise. Fortunately low lying coastal areas can be protected by dike systems similar to those used in Holland to hold back the sea.
Hurricanes will become stronger and more frequent. We must help the poor countries with their disaster preparedness.
Droughts will impact some parts of the world. We must help those areas with supplemental water supplies and desalination plants.
Fortunately if we get started now we can ameliorate the effects of Global Warming so that all of us can live fulfilling and prosperous lives.

global warming technically is a good thing b/c it helps regualte our tempertarute...but now it has gotten to the extent where it's too hot because there are too many greenhouse gases..aka polltuion
the way global warming works is basically the same as the greenhouse effect
1. rays from the sun penetrate the earth, some bounce back into space, while some come into the earth
2. the rays go to the ground and bounce back up to go back into space, BUT there are greenhouse gases... aka pollution..which traps the rays..aka heat... inside the earth and prevent it from escaping
3. therefore the more pollution=more greenhouse gases=HOT weather
BTW it's not always going to be hot w/ global warming...global warming affects the climate.. temperatures rising...ice caps melting and sea level rising..etc

Yup. There are a great many ignorant people out there who've got it in their heads that global warming will be positively =marvelous=. Some nonsense about increased plant production or something. They've never really bothered to explain it.

You really can't convince me that global warming is a bad thing. A warmer planet has a greater capacity to support life. Temperate zones will be shifted north. Glaciers will be held in retreat.
The opposite scenario is more perilous. Advancing glaciers and a shift south of climate zones would be very disruptive to civilization.

Yes. A little warming is generally beneficial and certainly very beneficial to some including the US, Europe, Russia, Canada, etc.

Al Gore. his movie was a holy grail among environmentalists yet his electricity bill ran over 30,000 a month ago. he most likely wants it to happen because it will gain him more publicity. and if he ever tries for president when global warming AKA the climate crisis is worse, his eco-friendly appearance will draw in voters.

Global warming will happen, or is happening, regardless on whether we want it or not.
Our influence on this periodic natural phenomenon is insignificant.
We must learn how to live with it.
Possibly without politically interested alarmism.
