Is it true that if you staighten your hair you can burn it? How do I prevent that from happening?

I LOVE straightening my hair, but lots of people say you can burn it and mess it up. I still want to straighten my har, so how do I prevent this from happening?

Yeah it can burn your hair, there are sprays that can help. Go to a salon and ask them about it, and they will show you what to buy. If it is to expensive there, just read the labels and go to Wal-Mart or something and buy it cheaper! =)

Don't straighten your hair while it's wet. Put on hairspray before straightening. Brush out hair in sections, apply a light layer of hairspray, and then flat-iron.

It's a little more effort, but your hair will feel silky for days.

Also remember to move the iron through your hair and don't set the heat too high.

Burning your hair only comes from the temperature of the hot comb. Always test your comb on a white cloth or tissue if it burns or turns brown it is to hot. Give it a 1/2 to 1 minute to cool off. That should be good time.

Use a protective serum or spray, and most importantly, make sure that the straightener is at a comfortable setting! You don't have to have it on a really high setting to get it straight.

Be sure to use the right temp setting as well as don't leave it on the hair to long and keep it conditioned well. Use thermasilk. It is great for the process with the hair. Or any heat therapy for the hair. HAPPY PRESSING

As long as you treat it, it should be fine. Yes it will ruin your hair and yes it burns

If you don't already use a heat protective spray or serum and don't keep the heat in one position.
