so basically, can your skin absorb water to help you survive?

Well if you were in the ocean you could. But in fresh water like a lake sure. No skin doesnt absorb water.

No, you must take water in. You also can't drink salt water.
One family that lived at sea for a number of months survived on fish and turtle blood, but we are not set up to absorb it thru our skin.
An alternative is to take enemas of water or blood (but not salt water) which is what this family did part of the time. I saw them on tv, it was an amazing story.............

well i watch this medical show enough called HOUSE by the way says the skin can asorb things so i believe your skin would absorb a little water at a time but not fast enough to keep u living

Nope, water has to be taken in via the mouth to have any effect.
