How do I tell if my pet rat is a dwarf?
Okay, I have two pet rats that are both dumbos, one of them is fairly new. They get along perfectly well, (great, in fact!), but the one that is fairly new (Bambi), is much smaller than my other rat, (Niko)... And when we got her she was tiny, still a baby... and even though she has grown a bit, she's still almost the same size as when we got her. She hasn't grown much and I need to know if she's either sick, or a dwarf. How do I tell if she's a dwarf rat?

a dwarf rat is 2/3 the size of a standard rat. you would need to know if the parents were dwarf rats or carriers of the gene.

Some rats are just smaller then others just like people are. I had a huge black hooded rat and now I have a smaller one. Their is nothing wrong with your rat.

No such thing as a dwarf Rat. Sadly, some people underfeed growing pups or lactating does to stunt growth and provide a 'new breed.' If your rat is small, feed her lots of protien, chicken, scrambled eggs etc and try to keep her healthy. Just keep feeding her nutrisous foods, I hope she grows into a strong and healthy Rat :)
