What makes a Republican a Republican?

Funny enough my Grand Parents on my Mom's side were both Democrats but half of their six daughters became Republicans. I have to say I'm a proud Democrat but in your mind what makes a Republican a Republican.

In my case I lack the ability to tolerate hypocritical morons. Outside of that there's a huge list of political garble that I favor rather than faking as if I know what really goes on in our Country.

So I guess I lean towards being a republican.

You shouldnt be proud to be a Democrat as Republicans shouldnt be proud to be Republicans. I recently switched from Republican to Decline to State. The Democratic Party has been hijacked by socialist the Republican party has been hijacked by neocons. Dont go blindly into supporting democrats because they are democrats and to republicans dont do the same. Listen to the ideas and how they would handle crisis.

You asked about Republicans so I will say the Republican party is made up of the neocons or more liberal republican, George Bush, John McCain, Wall Street Journal and the paleocons who are made up of people that value what Ronald Reagan stood for and examples of those would be Duncan Hunter and I believe Fred Thompson.

I think parties should go away and we should just vote the best person or take a longer look into other choices such as Independent and Libertarian parties.

We need to get past the rhetoric democrat good republican bad and visa versa. If we as people sat down with ideas without party we would see we pretty much want alot of the same things. Those in power have invested alot in getting us to fight amongst ourselves liberal and conservative, democrat and republican. Why? Very simple if we stopped fighting and started talking we would have agreement and those in power would be out of their jobs.

What makes a Republican a Republican it used to be Family Values. Respect for the Rule of Law, Love of Country and knowledge of a fair market is good for all.

What is it today with so many RINOs Republican In Name Only Neocons infesting the party I dont know.

What makes a democrat a democrat with so many left wing extremist infesting that party I dont know either

It's brought about by intelligence and an understanding of the world situation. Many old time democrats became angry when marxists took over the party in the 60s, which is why they went over to the republicans. The party of your grandparents was good for America, but then it was hijacked and taught everybody that they could feed at the public trough. Those who were hard workers had more and more of their money confiscated to redistribute it to keep the trough full. That's why those who work have to work until May to buy feed for the federal sow. Republicans want to put the sow on weight-watchers and get her to produce - bacon, if nothing else.

Once you have a basic understanding of economics, proposals from democrats sound ridiculous.

For instance, in an answer to high gas prices, they want a windfall profit tax to "punish" the oil companies, but anyone that has passed economics 101 knows that when you add an expense to a business, they will pass the expense on to the consumer. The end result is higher prices not lower.

Which is another thing we hear from democrats, the corporations need to pay their "fair share" and lowering taxes on them is "corporate welfare." Again, anyone that has passed economics 101 knows corporations don't pay taxes, the collect them. Taxes are an expense, just like rent, utilities, and labor. If it cost more to produce a product or service then it gets added to the price. Therefore, you raise their taxes, WE end up paying for it. That's just one example why I'm not a democrat.

Honesty, and values. I speak of the American People, Republicans, not politicians. None of them even value their own children. That includes Liberals mostly, and Republicans sometimes.

In my opinion only stupidity makes a republican a republican. I have not met one yet that has half the wit to have an intelligent conversation or justify their views.
