Can anyone tell me the name of the....?
...rotten sick bastard that came into my garden last night and stole my daghters three fish from our pond, one Ghost Koi, one Shubunkin and one comet, all about six years old and 12-14 inches in length. She is absolutely devastated, and has cried all day. In the process of catching them they have ripped lots of scales off and also tore off 3 pectoral fins. And no it wasn't a heron or something, the steel mesh cover 6 feet in diamater was lifted off and placed back afterwards.
As I said, no way was it an animal. NOTHING could get below or through the 1" mesh. Def. a person, 100% no doubt, probably stole to order for a fish enthusiast, but the fish have probably died from shock and damage.
PS. There are no racoons in Edinburgh!

mmmm...
well, if your sure its not a racoon or a badger or a fox, then its human. And this is my theory. Its not just an oportune theif. Its probably someone that knows you, or if your married then someone that knows ur husband.
Just someone that knows about your movements and the availability of the opportunity.
Your daughter will get better and be happy again. But my thoughts go for the fish that will not be happy and have suffered.
Thats animal cruelty and i dont like that. I find that more disturbing than a crying daughter.

its amazing the lengths some people go to ,I'm sorry your fish got stolen,i can imagine your daughter is distraught, did you report it to the police, some one might of seen something,
i would personally install a security light with hidden CCTV they cost 40 pounds and can be purchased from most hardware stores.
once someone has stolen fish before the likely hood is they will come back and do it again,in this day and age you would of thought your property would be safe ,but its not
please contact the police if you have not and think about CCTV

Could a weasel or a rat etc have sneaked under the mesh? If it's still in place maybe it wasn't even moved?
If it was a person I hope you catch them and give them what they deserve.

Sorry to hear about your fish. Some people are simply a$$holes and have no concept of fish as pets.
I hope you catch the people that did this.

Seriously sounds like a raccoon. They are very smart, and are able to lift objects. They would love to eat your slow swimming goldfish.
