What would cause my uvula(the thing hanging in the back of ur mouth) to swell up every now and then?

My husband had that problem on occcasion, we never checked it out but, attributed it to the nights that he snores a lot and loudly. Maybe it's from snoring too? The soreness usually went away by the next day. But also I don't think that his ever swelled as much as you're talking about so maybe it is more serious. But if you wanted to see if maybe that is the problem I would suggest trying something like blowing your nose before you go to bed and using a Breathe Right Strip through the night. That worked for my hubby.

You might have an infection or just a sore throat. See a doctor. I had something like that and it hurt alot when I swallowed, and it was an infection. I got antibiotic pills and cough syrup from my doctor. Is yours like that?
