Video Projection?

The church I work at is looking to mount a video projector in the back of the sanctuary. Ideally they want to project videos, media shout presentations, etc across the room to the projection screen up front. However, the one they use now is quite cheap and the zoom isn't strong enough to fit the projection onto the screen (instead it takes up half the wall).

They have some money in their budget for a new projecor and maybe a lense if needed. Anyone know of a good setup that will project a good distance while still keeping the area tight enough to fit on the screen?

I would use an Eiki projector with a long throw lens. The lens on their regular projector is a standard lens and not long throw....that is why it takes up half the wall. Picking the right projector requires a few things......distance, ambient light, and budget. There are many brands out there.....but I think I would go with Eiki.

I setup our projector at church, but we had to buy a new one, LUMENS are very important, you will need at lease 800 to 1200 lumens, depending on how bright is your church, if you have too much light for the screen 1200 will do 1500 will star, that can cost somewhere between 800 to 1500 bucks, check see my source list and you can also check many places for a good price.. By the way DO NOT BUY USED, or open boxes, this babies requieres a lot of care, Good Luck.

    PS/

You are going to need a computer with a pretty good V ideo card, and a switch box booster to move the image to the projector, the video card a good 128mb mem will do and the switch box booster try your favorite computer store, this a switch box booster NOT just a video splitter, it MUST split the image to your monitor and at the same time boost the quality of the image to your projector, keep the images to 800 X 600, and try to get a projector of at least 800 X 600 too, now if you can boost that to 1024 X 768, and it will rock, thou power point will do 800 X 600 but at least you will be able to work better in your monitor. Good hunting..

    I FORGOT TO MENTION..

The distance to almost ALL this projectors is about 10 to 15 feet for a good res. you may try a little bit more but degradation will occur.

Take a look at the Epson S4 pj. I use it outside and throw it about 45 feet and the picture still looks really good.

The contrast ratio is a little low, but should work fine for what you're looking to do.
