My computer won't boot up properly, never getting to the login menu, what should I do?

Okay, so today, I got back from the store, and turn on my computer. It shows the usual blue screen with the logo on it, and then goes to the usual black screen. But then, the black screen remains, though the light around the power button glows a normal blue. I've tried all the suggestions except taking certain cards out of the PC. Any suggestions on what I do?

Did you add anything to your computer and then experienced the problem? If you did add a card - take it out.

If all is well in that department - try restarting and tapping F8 at the dark screen. Choose "Last known good configuration" - use your arrow key to highlight and press enter.

If that did not work - try your operating system CD if you have it.

Restart and choose to boot from the CD. When Windows sees your operating system - choose the repair option.
