Why do people want to be a republican?

Seems like everytime we have a republican in office, this country goes to hell. And who are the morons who voted for Bush a second term? STUPID! This country has a DEMOCRACY, this is not the REPUCLIC of America. Always choose a DEMOCRAT! Republicans only care about themselves and making as much money as possible, democrats help the poor.

Update:

All i know is that when Clinton was in office, I slept good at night. I could find almost anywhere making $12-$15/hr. Bush is stupid. It took like 30 presidents to reach a trillion dollar debt. Busch doubled it in 5 years. Go figure.

ah poor poor little smokey. Keep your chin up bud. It takes awhile for a good man to clean up the mess that a gutess "progressive" like Clinton left. Democrats help the poor LOL yeah with our money! And waste most of it before it gets to any poor. Bet you didn't know the wealtiest in congress are Democrats. boy they sure have you hood winked with their bs don't they. I could give you fact after fact like this has been one of the greatest economys ever with record low numbers of unemployment and record highs in the stock market and the deficeit being paid back faster then first thought in spite of Katrina and other natural catastaphies and despite a war. No matter how you ignore these facts they are there! But people like you just need something to whine about. Democrats or liberals want to control us by taking more and more of our hard earned money away and re-distribute it how they see fit. The higher the taxes the better. Trouble is it just doesn't work. I would rather be responsible for myself and my family with less government not more! We are granted the persuit of happiness! The freedom to pick our own job make as much money as we think we want. The opportunity is there, in spite of government not because of it. And thats all I ask or deserve, the right to be my own man. And I am far from rich. But you go ahead and keep sniveling untill your great liberal party changes this nation into a 3rd world country. And by the way we are a represinitive republic. Read some things for yourself sometime and stop being a lemming for libs in power. You watch CNN for 10 minuters a day and believe the screaming and ranting over facts. So I will stop now don't want to confuse you with any more facts. And by the way I am not a republican but I am a conservative. lol Have a great day

Actually, my political beliefs are more in line with true conservatives than true liberals. Those beliefs include smaller government, more power to the states with less federal oversight, fiscally responsible spending, and strong national defense.

Unfortunately, the Republican party has been hijacked over the last several years by the Neo-cons, who grabbed their power by pandering to the "religious right" and the "moral majority" (who are neither moral nor a majority). As such, a vote against the Republican party was spun as a vote against God and America.

And, in a post-9/11 world with a rabid need for revenge, the majority of the people fell for the need to attack someone - anyone - in retalliation. So, the Bush administration conjured up a tie between Saddam Hussein and 9/11, and the voters swallowed it hook, line, and sinker.

I'm not saying that the Democratic party is a panacea for all that is wrong with our government. But, at least Democratic victories in all levels of government - including the White House in 2008 - is what will be necessary for the Republican Party to reinvent themselves on the core principles that conservatives claim to stand for.

I don't want to embarrass you , however, when making your point, please note....Democracy is an idea of government. The United States of America is a Republic. (for which she stands..remember) The name of the two dominate parties are similar to the title of our republic name. Each party is based upon a platform of beliefs shared by its followers. Both parties have gone through changes through the years. We have had several political parties form and some have gone into history . Like the Whig Party. Imagine being a Whig. This two party system, which is dominated by Republicans and Democrats both have their problems. At the moment, I'm more of a Independent as I believe both Dems and Repubs are moving more for themselves than for the people they represent. Still a few good ones there. I'll bet you in the future more people will start voting more for the person than the party. Remember to vote next year.

I love George Bush and next year i am voting a straight Republican ticket. That is not true we r better then the stupid democrats. We vote that way cuz we know killing babies is wrong. Gay marriage is all so wrong. It should be a man with a women and races should not mix.

Bill Clinton messed up this country and George Bush has done a fine job in reparing it.

I will say this George Bush should let us go over there and bomb them all.

the wisdom of conservatism is equal to the the inefficiency of government. its most fundamental tenet is that the government should do those things that the people cannot do for themselves, like provide a common defense, monetary system, interstate highways and railroads etc.

the things that people can do for themselves are most efficiently done by themselves.

it is true that the government can provide things like food, housing and health care for everyone if taxes are sufficiently high, but because of the inherent costs to have the government provide these personal responsibilities, the tax payer is lucky to get a third of his food or health care money back after it has been so handled.

if the (almost unachievable) goal of the government achieving all of its duties are met, and there is a surplus of funds, this is an indication that taxes are too high. it is not an indication that the government should assume responsibilities beyond its purview.

this particular administration has given us the lowest unemployment rate in decades, the strongest economy since the fifties, routine record breaking stock markets, lowered taxes for every citizen and ended terrorism in the US, all while increasing revenues to record levels and reducing the deficit for the past three consecutive years.

Source(s): thats part of why i want to be a republican anyway

You clearly have the beginnings of Alzheimer's disease seeing that you are spouting out a bunch of nonsense. The US did well during the presidencies of Ike, Reagan, and Nixon. In addition, Bush had a decent 1st term unlike this one which has been marred by constant foolish decisions. Also we are a republic seeing as we elect representatives to act in our place. In a true democracy we would have to vote on everything ourselves instead of having politicians do it. Finally, republicans don't shove money for themselves into their pockets. If they really were that greedy then no one would vote for them. In addition, democrats bribe the poor not help them. The invention of welfare and other political acts like that are only intended to create a permanent underclass that relies on the government to provide their living. Its just the same as Tammany Hall in New York during the 1800s.

For all your JUSTIFIED whining about Bush's deficit spending, let's note that the Democrat's budget for next year is LARGER than Bush's proposed budget. With no call for tax increases.

Bush is a fiscal liberal and has pissed off Republicans with his spend crazy ways. It will only be worse when the Dems are in control.

Yeah, Dems help the poor to be completely dependant on the gov't. Remember New Orleans?

What have you been smoking? If it is what I think it is, how can you possibly remember the last two elections? Real simple, America is a Democratic Republic. We all vote for who we feel will be the right person for the job. I voted for Bush twice, first because Al Gore is pathetic (he invented the Internet) and John Kerry (the ketchup man) is a Kennedy wanna be.

  • 1 decade ago

You have been smoking a lot. Was it legal? I voted for Mr. Bush, both times. I am happy with my decision. In the US we do not have a democracy. Our form of government is a representative republic. I will never choose a Democrat, especially when there are people around, like you, who support Democrats.

Drop the stereotypes. Republicans are for less government and equal, unlimited opportunity. Democrats are in favor of the government running everything, and Democrats want to run the government. If Democrats helped the poor, why do we still have poor people? It seems that they cannot do the job.
