I'm going to Cairo on August for vacation..what should i wear?

August is one of the hottest months of the year in Egypt... and the sun can be quite nasty... with a high UV index.

Although its Ok to wear shorts and sleevless shirts in Egypt I wouldn't recommend it for two reasons...

1- With the sun we are talking about you do not want to expose much skin... you'll get burnt or unevenly tanned... to get maximum protection from the sun and heat you should wear light and loose long sleeved shirts and pants made of cotton... A wide rimmed hat can be useful as well.

2- You migh get unwanted and some times rude attention in some places, especially if you are going around in non touristic sites in Cairo...

When you are in your hotel or among a group of tourists you can wear what you want. In the sun it is not wise though to expose your skin much. It is better then to wear wide loose cotton skirts and cotton T shirts. If you go out by yourself avoid shorts since it will attract attention till people realize that you are a tourist. Sleeveless tops are OK.

With the group no problem. If you are going to move alone or in some public areas where no tourists, it's advisable to cover more. In the sun you need to take care and drink enough. Humidity in August is high and our body use much water with movement for cooling. In the hotel you can wear whatever you like or on the beach.

wear whatever u want...i'm an Egyptian girl n i'm telling u it's ok to wear anything u feel confortable in speacially if u're going sight seeing, if not n u're gonna stay in cairo...it's still ok...

yes you can wear shorts ( as short as you can ) and the tops is not important forget it and enjooooooooooooooooooooooy
