I am taking Forensic Psychology right now and it is one of the most interesting classes I have ever taken. Our professor is rated rather low, but the subject matter is so engaging that anyone can teach it. Personally I don't like criminology courses because I'm not that interested in Law but I believe that this class is teaching me a lot about what goes on in the world of criminals and police officers. If you want to study about the personality traits and patterns of serial killers, mass murderers and psychologically disrupted people, I suggest taking the course.

I think TV has made this the latest hot major, but I have to wonder how many jobs are really out there. Have you checked to see what the job possibilities are? My only tip is that you get your foot in the door early--try getting a summer internship or some kind of job in a forensic lab so you'll have a contact and a foot up on other applicants. Every high school student I know wants to go into this field with fairy-tale visions of excitement and intrigue, when the truth is that most lab work is routine and boring. An internship would give you a good idea of what the job is really like. I honestly think that in a couple of years there's going to be more graduates than positions, and a lot of people are going to be coming face to face with reality vs. Hollywood images. Good luck.

Bravo! Not too many people would be able to go through such varied subjects to become a forensic expert. It will be challenging but the rewards from the work will surely compensate you. One tip; never emerge yourself in the grime side of the occupation (murder, corpses, dirt and smells) that are part of solving the puzzle you will face.

I don't take it; but it seems like a booming topic. Embrace it.
How do DNA, computers, modern skeleton reconstruction/enhancement relate to it. What entities benefit from and are willing to pay for Forensic services, what
roll do basics like Math, Language, History, etc. play in Forensics, what skills are required. Sounds fascinating. Enjoy. :)
