Why do all the fattening foods taste so nice?

Yet all the healthy food tastes like cardboard. Is this someones idea of a sick joke?

If I had a choice of a mouth-watering pizza or a plate full of celery and lettuce, I know what I would choose!

Yes, the mouth watering lettuce. I'm addicted to the stuff.

Basically, in the neolithic age, we needed fats in our diet - the same as now - they are a very important food group.

However, they were very hard to come by so over the eras, our body adapted so that we would cherish the fatty and sugary flavours so that when we did find a source, we would eat it.

Trouble is, although we still have that adaptation in place, the foods which are high in fat and sugar are plentiful and quite cheap so we get far more than we need.

I have the answer! The fattening foods are made with real stuff while the healthy foods are loaded with chemicals and preservatives. I do like a nice plate of celery and carrots with some ranch dressing for dipping but I also enjoy pizza.

It's a plot by the government to kill off all us weak willed fatties, the MSG they pump into this delicious food is worse than crack, we're soon hooked and on a downward slope to a heart attack.......once we're dead and buried the "super race" of tree hugging veggies will take over living perfect, healthy, wholesome lives. There'll be no clogging up the NHS, transport emissions will be cut due to everyone jogging and cycling to their destinations and thus preserving the planet from the fete that we kebab munching fatties are inflicting.....just a theory! LOL

I might just be one of those weird people that disagrees.

I really like to eat Spinach, Garbanzo beans, Artichokes, Celery, etc....as snacks.

I won't lie, I do eat junk food but they can taste just as good as that pizza, if you make it right.

I know this sounds gross but the other day, I made:

1 Can of Garbanzo Beans (Chick Peas) Drained, put into a small pot on the oven.

Mix in a can of drained Asparagus

and mix in a cup of low fat or fat free cheese. Add a pinch of pepper and a pinch of salt, and heat for five minutes on Medium.

It looks kind of gross but I assure you it's really tasty!

:) i think of it is unquestionably an aquired flavor. I as quickly as went on a week long juice/liquid rapid accompanied via a month of no longer something yet uncooked meals (vegetables and end result, nuts, grains) no longer something cooked. the 1st time I ate something "fattening" after that it tasted like eating a cup of sugary crisco/grease. My first soda after that tasted like eating pancake syrup directly. besides the undeniable fact that, it did no longer take very long till now each and every thing tasted mmmmm returned. the element is, as quickly as I went on that nutrition recurring (which btw, wasn't to drop some pounds, yet to be extra healthy) I felt 500% extra constructive. i could desire to do it returned. :)

I'm not sure if you are looking for a serious answer but here goes. The reason I've heard is that human beings didn't always have huge amounts of food available to them unlike americans today, so people who preferred fatty foods and ate more of them were able to store up more calories for later.

  • I think it's just because society made it that way. Sometimes I do wish it wasn't like that. But we all have to live with like that. Plus, I think all of the bad foods for your body are made to taste so that business can have more money (supposedly my friend and I think so). Not so sure. Just blame it on society.

Bad foods are full of sin and we all love the taste of sin. Good foods are good and that gets old after a while.

what about fruit, its good for you and taste nice, in fact I can think of a lot of healthy food that tastes good, get lots of fresh veg and stuff to flavour play about with it in different ways and enjoy. Whoops! That last statement could be mininterpreted.
