Money...or happiness??

I used to be a morning show dj. I got up at 3:30 in the morning & drove 50 miles to the station. I had to go to bed early to get a decent amount of sleep. I was bartending nights and sleeping in the parking lot of the station cause I was too tired to drive home for a 45 minute nap. I had to leave because I couldn't afford to stay and I was working myself into the ground.

I now work as a receptionist making almost double the money with "normal people" hours. The people here are great, but I know I can do better than this. I went to school to be a dj. That's what I really enjoyed doing!

This mornin when my alarm went off, I sighed. I dreaded another day behind this desk, never dreaded radio. My old co-host just called me. They have an opening for a morning show dj. He said we can meet 2 discuss $, but it'll be a severe paycut I'm sure. Do I sacrifice $ for something I love doing? Which is more important...money, stability & being miserable or loving what you do and just getting by?

Doing what you love will normally lead to a situation where you will make alot of money doing it. Doing something just for money will never lead to a happy life. When you do the things you love over the things you get paid more for- you will ALWAYS do better because you'll have something irreplaceable that you cannot fake: PASSION!!!

Both. Negotiate on the hours and the pay until you're satisfied. DJs can earn extra sometimes if they voice commercials.

Do what you love and money will become secondary.

Suggestion: stay at your secretary job but plug your dj business part-time on the internet. Check out http://results.sitesell.com/ for "inspiration".

    Good luck!

Negotiate more money (they can afford it) - make extra doing promo appearances... and focus on what you love!
