Has anyone converted to Islam?
after trying to prove it wrong?
As in; did you have an intellectual motive to convert rather than a spiritual motive?
Thanks. Salam

I converted after I got curious about it from all of the negative press here in the west. I started doing some investigation into Muslim beliefs and started noticing the awesome (kind, patient, informative, humble...etc.) answers from Muslims on here and was called by God to the true religion.
Best move I ever made.

I wouldn't say that Satan made me convert, lol. I don't believe in god, therefore I don't believe in Satan either. I didn't really 'convert' to anything. I just came to a decision that the idea of a god, such as the one in the monotheistic religions, is not working for me. If there is a god, I don't think he would send people to 'Hell'. That's the stupidest concept to me. That in itself could have been enough for my mind to stop believing in him. There are many more other reasons to list here. Life now is not better, but not worse. At least I have no guilt over everything, and no fear of some mean god who puts people in hell. Religion is there for those who need guidance. I know how to be moral without an invisible man threatening me to do so with fire. added: Don't try and say I don't know the religion. I was raised with sunday school, and have my short suras memorized. I did read the whole Quran in English (which is brilliant and I respect it), and studied other religions as well. It's nothing against Islam. It's against the idea of god in general I don't agree with.

I know a guy who was a born again christian and did that, he converted to Islam but after a few years became agnostic. I met another guy who converted to Islam after debating Jesus with a Muslim, but he converted to Orthodox Judaism after I think it was 9 years of being a Muslim.
I would think that most devote Christians who later converted to Islam were infact trying to prove Islam wrong only to find it made more sense than Christianity.

WalaikumSalaam,
Alhumdulillah I was born a Muslim and of course I chose to remain a Muslim.
I love hearing other peoples stories of how they discovered Islam and how they decided to convert.
May Allah guide us all on the right path. Ameen.

My theology professor used to argue a lot against Islam. As a priest, he can not think of salvation outside the church. He tried to defame islam as much as he can only to realize later that his frustrations were grown out of his feeling of inconsistencies within the christian faith. He found islam to be so logical that he can not accept that islam made sense to him than christianity. Because of this, he tried to convince himself not to fall for islam by attacking it. But the more he attacked it, the more he looked like a fool. Islam is so logical and rational that he left christianity and now is an imam for new converts in his community. He is still teaching, but the ironic part of it: he is now a defender of islam.
