What do you do when you get reported?

I answered a question with a simple joke and I got reported. I don't know why, but I am really upset. maybe because it is my first time or because I don't understand why people come to a forum to hear from people who think exactly like them. I would like to know, from people who have been reported, if you have found any way to protect yourself. I know there is no way to stop it, but I just want to know how other people handle it. This must be the reason people keep their answers private.

Question: "If your not Christian, your going to Hell''...then where did all those humans go, before there was a Jesus?

Question Details: My favorite one so far is "there were Christians before Jesus." That is too funny.

Deleted Answer: My favorite one so far is "there were Christians before Jesus." That is too funny.

Update:

Thanx everyone. I don't care if people don't agree with me; I just don't want to be targeted. I know a lot of people have so I just wanted to get some info about it.

I don't think it should matter whether or not I leave a funny answer. What matters is if I broke the community guidelines.

We all can be an *** sometimes.

Update 2:

Thanx t-rex. I guess they will always find a loophole. lol

I have definitely learned a lot.

Update 3:

Brian- I responded to what someone else wrote based on misinformation. It is not that I “don’t understand,” It is that I do and that is the difference between me and you. I answer most questions with more information about the bible then many Christians do. Even if you think my humor is misplaced, I should have the right to express it. Of course, persecution is the thing Christians do best.

I would like to see how many Christians actually answer with researched information.

If the violation is in error, you can appeal it.

Your answer, although funny, is actually a violation because Yahoo will say it was "not an attempt to answer the question". I know that one from experience.

Sadly, some people here will report things they do not agree with or every little rule infraction that they see. I guess it gives them some sense of power.

At any rate, we all get reported at some point or other and unless it become excessive, the best thing is to just accept it as part of being here.

Source(s): Edit As far as making questions and answers private, that is used mostly to deter the people who will look up everything you post and report it. It works fairly well. The problem with doing that is Yahoo has no opportunity to delete the accounts of people who asuse the report feature.

There were followers of God before Jesus. The Old Testament. I believe that's what the answer was supposed to mean. There is nothing wrong with your question. Perhaps some of the answers were getting out of line. Just let the warning pass. You will not have your account suspended. You can still pass GO and collect your 2 points. God bless.

I am a Christian, and I'm sorry you got reported.

However, what you said was very offensive to those who are Christians. There's nothing wrong with a little religious humor, but good humor must be accompanied by knowledge, not "making fun" of something you don't understand. Many people are asking legitimate questions and trying to work out their faith and base their lives on it. That makes this section somewhat more serious and substantive than other sections -- one in which course jesting is best left out.

Yahoo Answers has some people who are actually sincere in wanting an honest answer. I'm not sure who reported you, but I would suggest you try to provide valid and sincere replies to questions. If you want to make a joke- add it to your valid answer.

This doesn't mean some folks won't still report you for being offensive. Some people are just easily offended.

We all end up getting reported sooner or later. Don't let it bother you, it comes with the territory.

I've made my q&a private, and in the six weeks since I've done so I haven't received any violations. That's a way around most of the reports, but the occasional one or two will still get through.

    Good question...

before Christ, God expected people to follow His covenant, and in fact that really hasn't changed. The Jews have a covenant with God based on Abraham. Christ came to fulfill the Jewish covenant and to also allow the Gentiles in. This was promised to Abraham in Genesis. The Epistles, especially the Pauline epistles, talk about the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. The book of Galatians is good so is the book of Romans and Hebrews to understand God's plan for all people.

Protection? Not necessarily. Keeping things private can help prevent people who hate you reporting every answer you've ever given, but I doubt you're at that point yet.

i've got in basic terms ever reported one guy (two times) You all know him, he constantly posts "That wasn't a query, and is in violation of the Y&A blah blah, so i'm reporting you" I record that an rant and threats.

I do nothing. But, it does cheese me when my funny responses get deleted. Like, yesterday... I posted something about Jesus being busy appearing in tortillas. C'MON! That's good stuff! For once, I wasn't making fun of Christians, just crazy nuts who think Jesus appears in tortillas.

People have no sense of humor.

Some disgruntled person didn't agree with you and thought that reporting it would make them feel better. Wear it like a badge of honor!
