Who else thinks it stupid to remake a perfectly good movie i.e Hairspray?
I loved the original one and always will. its what started it all. its just stupid to redue something that is already fine the way it is. Roger Waters should be pissed. i know i am for him!
i never said ididnt want to see it star i just dont think it need to be redone. and i agree that it does look a little more sugar coated then the original one. i love michelle phifer(sp?) and i know shell be awesome. so i dont think i need to "chill"

Well people who haven't seen a movie, musical, game, whatever, and have heard about it's popularity back then, they would want to see it in a new form that still interprets the storyline but changes to look a bit more modern. It's just that some people aren't lucky enough to see the classics or they don't want to because of how bad the movie looks. Like I can't take a movie with bad quality, my eyes draw away from the movie screen because I've gotten so used to digital quality and all that smooth stuff yeah.

I agree and disagree! Sometimes the original is totally the best and sometimes they improve the original a great deal. As far as 'Hairspray' is concerned, I haven't seen either one yet, but I sure want to watch the new one. I think it will be totally hilarious to see John Travolta as a woman!

Ask captain jackass Michael Bay about remaking movies. All of them including Transformers was horrible!!
BTW I believe Hairspray was redone because of the success of The Producers

Well, I think 'if it aint broke, dont fix it' but I think sometime Hollywood runs out of ideas and takes GREAT movies like that and re-does them to just plainly MAKE MONEY!!! I agree, there are sooooo many that were good, ok, fine like they were and they have almost redone them all!!

Depends on the movie... I mean, this is a broadway show... should they stop playing it on broadway just because the original cast did a great job? I think its good to update great movies because then it reintroduces it to younger crowds that might not watch the original because its "old."

Very true. The original was great. I have read reviews that the new version is a funny but very watered down version of the original.

Well I don't know that I think it's stupid, but I agree in principle COMPLETELY, with songs too. I think it's a waste and overkill and evidence of the lack of originality.

Ah, but you have to understand that THIS hairspray is the musical, so you have a movie of a musical of a movie.
Why did Mel Brooks redo "The Producers"? For it was a movie of the musical....of the movie

I can't wait to see hairspray! but there are some remakes that are just terrible, it's just like when prequels come out. we already know what happens who cares about what happened before everything?
