i am going through this same exact thing as we speak. My fiance is from mexico tho. We have been working on getting him what they call a K-1 Visa, which is where he can travel into america only once and it only lasts up to 6 months.

First what we did, we went to this woman that works on getting illegals legalized. We actually walked in her office the day we got our marriage license, ready to get married that month but she said to NOT get married right now, there is a much easier way to get him legal, which is called Petition to my Fiance, sounds like thats what you are doing as well. Well she set up all of our paper work, we had to get as much info. about the 2 of us (my fiance & I) to prove that we have been together for at least 2 years. We gave her as much as we could find that day and let her send it to the USCIS in IL. We paid $175 total for her to set up everything and half of it went to the USCIS. We then heard about a few months later that they had sent out info. to TX, then few more months later we got another letter saying it was sent to California. Why they sent it all over the place, idk.

We heard in November (we started all of this in June 2006) that they didnt approve us over in California, they needed more proof proving we have been together for 2 years. So i dug up everything that i possibly could. I sent so much, then once i sent everything i had in Feb. i heard a response within 2 weeks!! They approved us and they then sent us a packet with an interview with a consulate in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. We can go anytime within a year. But my fiance has to be in his own country for at least a year. Im not even quite sure why a year, but thats what she told us, so he has been in his country for a year now and he will be going to this interview to either get approved or denied the K-1 visa. He will be taking this interview next week actually. he first has to go to get a medical exam and then either that same morning or the following day, go to the interview.

After he goes to the interview, if he is approved, he will get his mexican passport stamped and recieve the k-1 visa and will be able to fly to the states. Then we have 90 days to get married, once we are married we send them our documents proving we are married, within the next 60 days if not shorter, he will get his soc. sec. number/card and a drivers license and also a workers permit...im not sure about his green card, i think he might recieve that within a year or so, maybe not that long.

I am not sure on everything but i am going through this process and it didnt take that long, year tops. Just as long as you do everything on time and everything is correct, you will be done in a year or a little more. We didnt use an attorney, we couldnt afford one. If you can afford one, then get one, it would be less stressful, if not, your going to have to do a lot of work and all on ur own. We are both young and did it all by ourselves, and i hope and pray this interview goes according to plan and he will be back home with me and his daughter next week!!

This might not be the same exact situation cuz he is from egypt but it just might be the same cuz we are dealing with america here lol

well i hope my information will help you out a little bit and i wish you both well! Good Luck!!

You need show that your relationship and intention to get married is not fraud. Save Pictures of both of you together, Letters, E-mails, Messages, telephone bill, your airline ticket, any receipts while in Egypt.

The paper work and supporting documents are work extensive.Filling out the Application should be 100% accurate and complete otherwise it would be ground for delay or application to be denied.

Its always a good idea to hire an agency that would expedite the process of your application. They would know exactly the information and documents needed.

    Good luck!

In some cases of K1 visa, the reason for denial is lack of supporting documents.

You may not need a lawyer if you are thorough in your application and submission of documents.

The most important thing when applying is to tell the truth. Since your husband-to-be is a doctor, there's only a small chance of denial (if your papers are in order and he has no criminal record).

    Good luck!

K1 Visa's are very easy to do:

(You will need to do this)

    I-129F

    G-325A for both of you

Passport pictures 2X2 two of each of you

    Petitioners Birth Certificate

Proof of relationship and meeting like hotel and airline receipts, phone bills, photocopy of passport stamps when you met and visited

    description how you met

You can download the needed forms here: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb...

i did no longer nail my first few interviews. on the whole because of the fact i did no longer comprehend the appropriate issues to do. regrettably, you are able to need a resume prepare, because of the fact it may harm your job opportunities without one. What you opt for to concentration on in the process the interview isn't what you opt for. somewhat, concentration on strategies which you would be able to help the business enterprise. case in point, in the event that they are seeking for a man or woman who would be there each and every time they time table you to artwork, what are you able to assert to reassure them of this (no longer purely to get the job, yet clearly the way you will verify you would be there every day). additionally, look interior the replicate at your outfit which you're donning. Does it teach which you're professional, properly groomed and not in a trend that the two detracts or distracts from a ineffective ringer for the keep. you opt for to illustrate which you hear properly, which you would be able to think of via what you opt for to assert, and which you're able to discovering the job actual. All of those issues they are going to be searching for while the interview you. and you'd be evaluated from the time you arrive interior the vehicle parking zone, till you go away the vehicle parking zone. .

You do not need an attorney. It's a total waste of money unless there are other, serious, underlying legal issues involved.

It should take about a year. That's normal.
