bruised tailbone?

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and not all that graceful anymore, and I just sat down on the floor kinda hard and I think I've bruised my tailbone. It aches when I sit, stand, walk, move...it's not unbearable, and it wasn't an extremely hard fall, so I don't think it's broken. I can't really know for sure because I don't want to harm my baby with an x-ray. I just want to know if you've bruised your tailbone, how can you manage the pain (drug-free, besides Tylenol...I'm pregnant!), and how long it took to stop hurting.

I broke my tailbone earlier this year when I fell on the wet kitchen floor. I ended up at the ER, where he told me there is not a dang thing they can do for it. Best thing that helped me was my trusty heating pad. The doctor said it takes about 14 days to heal, give or take.

Oooo, ouch!! I did that several years ago, slipped on black ice and down I went. Actually I cracked my tailbone. Not much you can do, except "suck it up". My doc recommended I buy a kids plastic swimming inner tube and sit on that. It did relieve some of the pressure, but I sure did get sick of carrying that thing whereever I went!!! How long will it last? Well, depends on how hard you bruised it and how fast of a healer you are. I'm a slow healer, so it took many months before I could sit, stand, or walk with out any pain. Good luck. I know what you are going thru.

You can take tylenol for the pain but there is nothing the doctor's can do. I feel down a flight of stairs and 2 day's letter fell on black ice. I cried forever It hurt so bad that When I sat I felt like I had to throw up. I went to the hospital but they said there is nothing they can do for it. This happened almost 2 years ago. I still have pain when I sit in a way I could feel it. I can even hear it move and crack. YOur sounds like it is bruised but try not to sit on it with all your weight it will take longer to heal. Good luck.

i bruised my tailbone by fallin skating,, it hurt for a good month but i drank alot of milk and eventually the pai nstarted to go away. I would probably try to sit straight up and not lounge that cause the bones to push on your tailbone or thats what the doctor said,, I even put ice packs on it at night.

    Hope it gets better

See a doctor and ask him what you can do, if there is anything that he can give you for the pain that will not harm the baby. Also, you could probably wait until you have delivered the baby to get an x-ray, that way you can see what the problem is.

It hurts more that people realize because we use it in every motion. I don't think there is anything that will help since you can't take any pain medicine. If the pain persists (more than a few hours), I would contact your obstetrician and see if he\she has any suggestions on managing the pain without causing stress on the baby.

Perhaps it is bruised, but you may have also cracked it. It just has to heal on it's own. If your dr. says you can use Tylenol than I would take that at the physican's recommendation and dosage.

I bruised my tailbone, but it only hurt when doing certain things (pushing heavy objects, pooping, ect).

I don't remember it bothering me that long.

Staying off your feet as much as possible, possibly a warm or cold compress to your lower back.
