Why would most women rather have girls than boys when they get pregnant?

Well I had four boys and loved them all equally (although I must admit I would have loved to have had a daughter).

Now I have three grandsons by my first and am relying on the others to provide me with a grandaughter - I'm not holding my breath!

I wanted a boy first because I was the oldest and had all sisters. I hoped (and had) a boy first because I always wanted to have an older brother (I know, I know... why?). This pregnancy I want a girl because I - like many women - want one of each to start. Maybe some women feel like they will be better equipped to handle a girl... ???

On a global scale, it's quite the opposite. Especially in Asia, a lot of women will abort if they learn they're having a girl. Female infanticide is a problem too. :(

But for American women, I think it's just a question of being able to relate to the child better.

I have 2 boys, ages 4 and 1 week. I wouldn't want it any other way. To me, boys seem easier than girls. No fits about outfits or hair, just dress and go. Plus boys love their moms.I love how rough and tumble they are.

I disagree that "most" women want girls instead of boys. Was this the result of a poll or just something you heard somewhere?

well, my first was a boy; i didnt care either way then. we had only wanted 2; a boy and a girl, and our second was another boy. i just feel a girl will complete our family; plus i wont be outnumbered so bad in the future!! :D thats why i want a girl so badly.

I guess so they can buy all those cute little girl's outfits. Personally, besides the fact that I wanted a healthy baby, I wanted a boy!

I wanted a girl, but was blessed with 3 boys. I was looking forward to dressing the girl up in cute little dresses, barrettes, mary janes, hair bands, etc.....

Hi, You know I have no clue because I have one of each. My daughter is 5 and my son is 3. And while my daughter may be cute in dresses and such, I almost want a copy of my son. He happens to be the opposite of my daughter. Little girls have smart little mouths and boys are not so bad.

i answered girl to the other question.. but i kind of want a boy too!! i guess im still undecided.. a boy would be so great.. well i guess i'll be sooo happy with a girl or a boy..
