Find the length x in each triangle. Express the answer in simplified radical form?
The triangle is a right triangle with the bottom being 15 and the middle being 20. x is the side. I hope this helps. I keep getting different answers

well, you just use pythagorean theorem, so:
x^2 + y^2 = z^2
x = ?
y = 15
z = 20
x^2 = 20^2 - 15^2
x^2 = 175
x = sqrt(175)
x = sqrt (25 * 7)
x = 5 * sqrt(7)

Okay. I don't know what you exactly mean by bottom and middle and side, but I presume the right angle exists between the bottom and the middle, and the side is the hypotenuse. In that case, x^2 = 15^2 + 20^2 = 225 + 400 = 625,
hence x = 25.
However if x is one of the arms of the right angle, then, the hypotenuse is of length 20. Hence,
x^2 = 20^2 - 15^2 = 400 - 225 = 175
hence x = 13.23.

If by x you refer to the hypothenuse, then you have a 3-4-5 triangle, and x = 25.
If 20 is the hypothenuse (your use of "middle" and "side" is unclear), then x = sqrt(400 - 225) = sqrt(175) = 5sqrt(7) = 13.2287 (rounded).

x^2=20^2-15^2.
Then you need to find the square root.
x= (sqrt) 175
x=25(7)
x=5(sqrt)7
Just use the pythagriam theory. (sp?)
