do Christians enjoy scaring people?

I just read a question where this Christian was asking the atheists what are they going to do when God will come down and judge them and send them to burn in hell. He chose as a best answer another Chrstian guy saying that atheists willbe bowing on their knees asking forgiveness ,but it is going to be too late for them. I mean ,do Christains get off using this type of scare tactics? a GOD that would torture people JUST FOR NON BELIEF? What kind of sadistic people belive in this bs ? AND THEY CALL IT ALL LOVING GOD? I cannot understand this.

It was the sort of fanaticism you mention that led me to leaving the church. I have no time for idiots like that. I will add not just Christians, but any other religion that tries to justify its followers are better than any other through constant misquoting of their "so called" holy texts.

    Fear = CONTROL.

And that is what religion has been doing to the masses for thousands of years. Yes, they try to scare people; they lie to themselves and say they are trying to "save" people, but I think that is just the brainwashing doing it's job. Religion is ALL about control, scare tactics and shame.

However, I am not an Atheist. I believe in God. Surprised? The difference is that I don't believe in religion, which is run by MAN. Just like the Bible, and the Quran, and all these holy works were written by MEN. Not to say there aren't some good ideas in those pages---there are. Love, compassion, forgiveness...of course those ideals are blown away when in the next verse or chapter, God decides to have a genocide, or kill someone because they ate the wrong thing on the wrong day.

Anyway, I think that yes, some Christians enjoy scaring people. I think some of them like it quite a bit. HOWEVER, not all of them are like that. Some of them actually got something good out of their religion by accident; faith. So just be careful about making generalizations. But on the whole, as you can see, I agree with you.

As a believer in God and His son, Jesus Christ, most people would say I am a Christian. By today's standards, that is exactly what I am. However, it is not the responsibility of anyone, Christian or non, to tell anyone else they are going to burn in hell. There is only One who can make that judgement -God.

God will judge everyone, Christians too. Everyone will go before the throne to answer for everything they have done or said in their lifetime. However, what they have stated is not a scare tactic for us to use to convert others. What they have stated is the truth. Everyone is given the word of God. And we are all given a choice - accept it or reject it. Either way, it will happen whether you believe in Him or not. Some who call themselves children of God will not be saved and also be condemned. Why?

An all loving God is also a God of justice. People think that simply being a "good person" will save them from His wrath because He is "loving and understanding". But by what standards do we classify ourselves as "good". None of us are. At one point or another in their lives, everyone has lied, cheated, and stolen. Even if is was something "small" or a "little white lie". If you murder someone, that makes you a murderer. So if you lied, cheated, or stolen, what does that make you? A liar and a thief. That is only three of the ten commandments. And if God judges us based on those standards, do you think you will be innocent or guilty?

A murderer goes before a judge and thinks the judge is just and will let him go because he is a "good" person might hear such a presumption answered with, "you are right, I am just. And it is because I am a just person that I will see you punished". Those who believe that God will save them because they are a "good" person will find that the one thing they depend on to save them will be the very thing that condems them.

God has given everyone the opportunity, over and over again. Even in the end times, they will be given the opportunity. After the Rapture, everyone will have one more chance to repent. After that, it is over. That will be the final straw. People will curse God because of their afflictions and tell Him "why would you do this if you were a just and loving God"......

Life without faith is no life at all.....

My former family used scare tactics with me. Especially my mother's sister. At 13 she started with the burn in hell stuff and gradually moved on to me being a whore because of the way I dressed. The TV shows I watched and my sense of humor. So basically everything I did was leading me straight to hell.

Not all Christians, just the really nasty pseudo-Christians out there. I think everybody who believes in a religion ends up making God in their own image to some degree. People who preach a nasty, vengeful God tend to be nasty, vengeful people.

What's really funny is that Jesus said, "Judge not lest thou be judged, for the judgment ye give ye shall receive". If Christianity turns out to be true in the end (about a 0.0000001% chance), those 'Christians' who love to damn other people to hell are going to have a helluva surprise themselves...

I swear that SOME do in fact get some kind of sadistic joy in proselytizing to people like that. The holy-rollers are a blast at parties, let me tell ya.

God doesn't "torture people just for non belief."

In hell people get EXACTLY what they deserve. Since we have all sinned thousands of times (many times each day), the punishment will be severe.

The reason you do not see hell as fair is because you see yourself as basically good.

The Bible says that we are desperately wicked to the core.

Still God loves us and has given us a way of escape.

    People have a CHOICE-

1 Accept Jesus' payment on the cross for their sins.

Or 2 Pay the price themselves.

If they choose to pay the price themselves, it will be severe. Look at what Jesus had to suffer in the scourging and crucifixion.

Plato, did you know that you were considered to be a Christian by Justyn Martyr, One of the So-called Fathers of the Trinity?

    Justin was false anyway though.
