All nations and empires rise and fall. From the mighty Romans to the Greeks, no empire can last forever. But their memories and beliefs can live on. Our country, a constitutional republic, (contrary to the popular belief that it is a democray,) is based off the Greek government is Athens. Likewise, I believe the US will fall, but the American dream will still exist.

unless we do something soon about both the moral decline (divorce and teen pregnancy rates are steadily rising, sex, drugs, and violence glorified constantly in the media, school shootings, etc, etc), and the political apathy in this country, we're headed down a dark path.
who votes these days? of the few that do, how many of them actually go beyond the mudflinging campaign commercials that come on tv during primetime? not many. people sit back and claim, ''my opinion doesn't count anyway. this country's going to hell.'' with that kind of attitude, it is.
if you look at the fall of every great civilization, there was an overwhelming drop in morality shortly before it was overtaken by some outside force, or destroyed itself from the inside out. it kills me that noone does anything about our situation, and the few that do are met with nothing but opposition.
we have to mend our country.
now.

Yes. Empires rise and falls. It is a law of history.
When empires become too powerful, they lose their virtues. They become lazy, arrogant and corrupt. This inevitably brings their downfall. The barbarians are only picking at fruits that are ripe for the picking.

It's difficult to gauge whether it is inevitable, but it is always possible. The nation itself may cease to exist, but its ideas and contributions can live on and be adopted by other nation/states. This is why blind patriotism/nationalism fails.

Yes, because of too much love for money and too little concern for morality... but that is the case with the entire world today!!
