I need a recommendation as to what water filter to use on my GE side by side refrigerator?

The water and ice from my door dispensor have an undesirable taste so I am looking for a recommendation as to what filter I could use to eliminate this.

The fridge is a 25' GE model side by side.

Thanks.

You don't mention how old the unit is, however most newer unit have the filter ( replaceable) built into the refrigerator section ( upper right corner) a little older and the filter is around back on the inlet side of the water valve ( where the copper or plastic) 1/4" line come in. Ge makes replacement filters. Some are aval. at home depot or lowes. You can also order them on line or call an appliance parts company in town and ask them if they can supply one. You can change it your selfwith a couple adjustable wrenchs ... good drinking!!

If you mean adding a filter to the water line, there are many brands to choose from. I have one from GE I got at Home Depot. Installation is a snap, and changing filters couldn't be easier.

If you mean replacing the one in your fridge, the replacement is probably the same thing I use.

of coarse you will use a GE. get the one that says it removes lead, this is a carbon/ KDF. it wont say KDF on the pack but if it claims to remove lead then it has KDF. look up KDF on the net and you will see how it works and why it does the most work.
