Do you ever think how incredible this is? How will this affect us in the long run?
We talk, send letters in the form of e-mails, we chat on line, we can see each other in cams and hear each other on mics. we talk to others all over the world. we get the opinions of others in many countries in minutes. the idea of visiting the other countries was unimaginable, due to expense.
Yet 25 years ago we only just had home PC's, 25 years ago a letter to Australia took weeks, and cost alot, a phone call to egypt was almost impossible, even if you could afford it, discussions on politics, social issues and indeed anything between members of other countries on a regular basis would have been almost imposible. how should this change our lives? What should we learn from this? how has it changed your life or dont you think it has?
i am aware Kalooka that most of you are not even 25 years old and therefore mere babes ( well i had to get my own back for that Mam). But even you 'youngsters' must be aware of changes created by the digital world, for instance how long have you had a mobile phone? how long have you been using answers? or using an MP3 player. For me the biggest change is the fantastic source of information i have at my fingertips. I want to know about the political situation in peru... i look on the net. I want the latest album from whoever, i down load it.
wise heart thank you for your well thought out answer.
Edit Nique ta mere

Very good question. Really changed our lives like we never imagined. Now we can think of someone at the other end of the world so close. That makes a new medication in USA available the next day in China. Some people can go to the airport as soon as they have their vacation and make all bookings on line. You can trade and make profits while you are using your portable computer on the beach of a very far country.
We should learn that exactly like the good may come this way very fast, also the evil use the same way and speed
This changed my life much positive and negative. It makes many things available to be done at almost the same time, but it makes us have less personal and human contact. As we get in contact with all the modern methods of communication, it's then not on the top of the agenda to meet.
From my side I know it and I use to care for the personal contact more, but how many people can take care of that and act.

it's amazing i know, but i didn't notice it changed my life that much. i m not that old ma'am..:-)
Edit:
ma'am..i m not a youngster either, i was born before the digital world was invented. I witnessed the amazement of Game & Watch, Atari and wireless land based phones.
may be it changed my life and all that, but life back then was even more fun. that's what i think.

Hmmm, Not really.
I have my own way of using the best things in the worst possible ways.
