Why do Muslims on Y!A rise to the bait?

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim

Salaam Alaikum wa Rahmatullah and hello. I would like to ask my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters on this forum a question. Why do you rise to the bait when people post negative questions or comments? It cheapens us and is bad adab to return hurt for hurt and nasty comment for nasty comment. Allah's Messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, would never countenance such a thing.

Remember, when you are snide or rude to a person, you put him on the defensive. Even if someone is rude, or blasphemes against the religion, you should be patient and forebearing. Remember that in the early days of Islam, people used to curse Allah's Messenger, strew the ground where he walked with thorns, and even throw the offal of animals on his back when he made sujuud. He never returned insult for insult, and because of his great character many were convinced of the truth of his prophethood. Think before you type.

I'm not a Muslim but I truly enjoyed your statement and agree with you whole heartily that love and peace must be not only tolerant but totally tolerant.

I don`t believe it ! A post by a follower of Islam that actually makes sense and I agree with .

I`m not a Muslim , and disagree with most of the teachings of Islam , and so far , all questions/answers by Muslims . This is the very first post I can`t argue with .

Many of us Christians would do well following that advice .

    Good point.

Being Jewish, I cannot believe the 'questions' Muslims post on this site which only aim to spread lies about Judaism (ex; Jews control the world, we slaughter babies, we want to force everyone to obey the 7 laws of Noah, converted Jews are not considered Jews, Zionism equals Nazism, and on and on and on)....

This definitely does not contribute to an honest dialog. It only makes negative allegations about Muslims sound valid.

I understand not all Muslims hate Jews and seek the destruction of Israel, but those Muslims do not speak out. Their silence makes them invalid.

Its a matter of Ignorance... the prophet after the first war Al Badr ( the Wells) after they defeated 3x their size army he told them about the final war and then said any prisoner that can teach us Math.... 10 of us.. is allowed to go free.

Muhammed SAW realized there and then his people needed to get away from ignorant ways and rely on trust of Allah SWT.

Source(s): Those who wet thier lips with the words of Allah will never have such transgression against themselves. Umar r.a was a great example for all of us Muslims for his qualities are in alot of muslim brothers today, we ask Allah SWT to make our speach moderate and make us a means of guidance so we may guide others inshallah amen.. that is dua and its in the Quran and if you read the Quran you are making dua upon yourself and every other person on the face of the earth and to save one soul is like saving all of humanity... Save yourself you will have saved all of mankind Peace

    Dear sister,

I couldn't agree more with what u said there. A true Muslim would always preserve an intact adab and morality. More importantly, one should try and master one's self ego and "nafsu" so that anger and negative aspects of the mind does not overpower us to degrade our judgement on matters.

Allowing negative aspects to overtake us does not make us any better than the person that we try correct.

    Very true, good point.

The false accusations have put Muslims on the defensive.

Very similar to how Christians were acting for decades after the Holocaust.

Its all psychological warfare and Muslims should stay away from the traps.

And those who profess Christianity would be wise to ask themselves the same question when they are baited. At least they should aske themselves, "What would Christ do?" My understanding is that he would answer as a teacher might answer. Cheers

“O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even if it be against yourselves, your parents, and your relatives, or whether it is against the rich or the poor...” (Quran 4:135)

I agree with you sister but being polite and having a firm grip are two different thing. I always try my best as other brothers and sisters on here to not be rude at all to anyone while answering questions, but when someone insists on continuing on the path they are on.. It is our duty to correct them. It's unfair for a Muslim to be defensive against a non-Muslim and not say anything to a Muslim who is tarnishing Islam. I think is non-Muslims saw that Allah has told us to judge against all wrong, Muslim or not, that they would KNOW for sure than that we are not biased. I really respect your opinion sister. I know we can't ever in our lifetime come close to the patience of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). That's why I love the Prophet so much. He had all the kindness of the universe in his soul.

“O My servants, I have forbidden injustice for Myself and forbade it also for you. So avoid being unjust to one another.” (Saheeh Muslim)

“God commands justice and fair dealing...” (Quran 16:90)

“O you who believe, be upright for God, and (be) bearers of witness with justice!...” (Quran 5:8)

“We sent Our Messengers with clear signs and sent down with them the Book and the Measure in order to establish justice among the people…” (Quran 57:25)

“The Word of your Lord finds fulfillment in truth and justice. None can change His words.” (Quran 6:115)

Allah bless you for this post.

All the muslims on here get on my nerves. Okay well not all but a lot of them are rude and annoying. Sorry but seriously I don't like the idea of being married off to some old man I don't even know. The nice ones like you seem to be one I am okay with.

Oh yes, by all means, don't cheapen yourself by answering questions.

It's perfectly alright for you to harbor or give shelter to those of your faith who murder innocent civilians, ( including children and elderly), simply because they don't share your faith.---Remain the "classy" accomplices that you are.

Above all don't loudly condemn these people who you claim have "hijacked" your "peaceful" religion. For that would be "cheap".

Can you not see any injustices accept the ones you claim are directed at you. ---After 9/11 how did you suddenly become the main victims of injustice.---Get your mind off yourself for a minute, and see the real crime against humanity that you seem to brush aside like a pesky fly.

You probably know these criminals and go to worship with them.-- But, don't cheapen yourself by turning them in.
