What's the difference between Yahoo Answers and a chat room?
Seems like too many questions are written as if this was a chat room. Do you know that it is not? What do you see as the differences? Do you think it ought to function as a chat room?

Apart from the obvious differences between Y!A and Chat Room, the following may stand out prominently:
Yahoo! Answers:
1. You get time to think and write Q or A.
2. Mostly these materials (Q&A) are open and available for the respondent to that particular Q&A as well as to any of the millions of Members.
3. Inputs are regularly contributed by numerous users (members) for any single topic. So, chances of getting at least one or two sensible information are great in Y!A.
4. Team Spirit is developed and people are getting 'quality' friends through the use of Y!A since they can get to know users by various criteria like how they act in Q&A, how they mark 'Star' or 'Best Answers' and more importantly what is in their Profile and Y!360 Blogs etc.
The Bad thing about Y!A is that since Y!AT allows anonymity and such 'shield' for the users, this service is mostly digressing when users are found hurling abuses on each others. This is truer in Religion & Spirituality Section (R&S). So, in this respect Y!A degenerated into CHAT room.
Chat Room:
Good point: You get instantaneous feedback fro the user(s).
The bad side of Chat Room:
1. Since there is less 'reaction time' and users make small comments and sometimes these are meaningless.
2. I have seen Indian and Pakistani users in Yahoo! chat rooms where they literally abuse and use filthy languages to malign their 'enemy' countries.
I'm sorry that I have done comparison though the motive of asking this question probably was to ridicule and challenge the Y!AT to act before it is too late and Y!A becomes a big 'cesspool' (lol).

Well I see Yahoo Answers as a place to either ask a question hoping for good answers...
Or a place to answer questions hoping you gave a correct response...
Now in a chat room, you talk about anything and everything, not just a question asked...
You write to folks in real time and respond to what they are talking about...
There is no real topic of conversation...
But you are talking to each other at the same time and not waiting on an answer like in Yahoo...

A chat room is where others can talk to you at that time & more than one can gang up on you with their apostate remarks and opinions, Y!A is a question and answer forum with "NO" inner reaction, people can ask or answer question that they select, a chat room you can not select who you wish to talk to. To compare them side by side and conclude they are the same is lack of better reasoning, a chat room is like going into a group that you do not know and speaking your opinion where your opinion no matter how accurate can be belittled by undesirables & apostate where no one has the time nor opportunity to research. On Y!A you can answer question you pick & you can ask the question you wish, those that bad mouth you are visible to other that read your questions and your answer can be compared to those that have nothing but hate coming out of their mouths. Here about 5-8 months there was a question, "Jehovah's Witnesses do you think you are wasting your time on Yahoo Answers?" The gentleman went on to say he has been researching some of our answers for over a year, I think he said some time, well anyway he went on and said he just went to his first meeting and although he felt he had already been studying with us for some time he said tonight was the the first time he was studying with a real witness( I question him on this and he assured me that what he meant was a Witness in the flesh! There was others over the years 4 Atheist, 3 Catholics and about 8 inactive witnesses that are now active and baptized publishers, oh and 1 Agnostic. 1 of the Atheist still ask and answers question & every once in awhile I see the ex agnostic answer questions that hints he is making the meetings. I have contacts world wide and some of them have my personal email, these have proven over the years to be true blue witnesses. Doesn't the scriptures say that the sheppard leaves 99 to find one, well since 2006 there has been 16 that I have witnessed, most have left this site and I don't blame them but I had to smile when one of the Atheist came back on to ask one question on something that was puzzling him, he got his answer and he hasn't been back since, he's one of my contact so if he pops up again I will know. I've heard it all but it comes from those that are uninformed and "DON'T know the difference between Y!A and a chat room, chat means your comment intermingle with other comment in real time, Y!A is a question and answer forum that you can select which questions you wish to answer, I would love to walk down a street and see different questions hanging on peoples door that I could say "I know the answer to that one and the Bible backs up my answers! I have every apostate blocked, I even have the Catholic priest that attacked those two witness brothers that hit the news and the priest was going to sue until the neighbors that witnessed the attack said the priest was the one that did all the attacking and all the brothers did was try to defend themselves, I have him blocked! You asked for my opinion and I believe you got it, there are those that I would recommend they don't get on this site, Apostates on here are hateful but I've been treated hateful at doors, even had hot coffee thrown in my face, the man said he was sorry when he seen I didn't return his actions with the same gusto as he, I like an experience I read about a brother in the door to door ministry when faced with a gun in his face and the man didn't pull the trigger, he told him, I thank you for your restraint and then slowly backed down the side walk. We meet all types on here and on the street, it's the world we live in, but I'm happy if I played a little part in any of those that I have seen become our brothers and sisters, i know I helped at least one because he listed me as one of the many he had researched our answers, I'm talking to 3 right now and have conversations with them for months, this is due to Y!A, I believe a good sheppard would leave more than 99 well cared for sheep to look for 3 let alone 1!

Yahoo answer is less lame and it's addictive. Even more addictive than chatting with some cool guy. If I need to have a guy I would rather just go out and not sticking to the PC.

I don't understand the sarcasm. a chat room is interactive, with an immediate back and forth. Whereas Answers are posted and responded to in as long as what, 3 days? I think people try to make their questions engaging to elicit a quick response........

I think it's becoming like a chat room except the topics change every few minutes. I think it's fun, though, and I like it.

actually, i never noticed but it's interesting to see what type of answers this will get. it shouldn't function as a chat room.
