"Ah" is used a lot as emphasis, and I believe lots of people speaking in English with mandarin accents say it a lot at the end of their sentences, so lots of people ask this question. Answer= It does not mean anything.

If you are telling them something and they say "ah" it kind of means like, "oh... I see..."

But they can mean the same as English, AHHHHH, AHHHHHHH same thing.

Or if someone say something hard to believe, people might say "ah?" it is kind of like, "What?"

If they do somethign wrong, like pump into you, "ah" generally leads to, "ah, I'm sorry"

啊 ā (interj.) / ah oh (interj.) an interjection / to express doubt or to question / to show realization / to stress

    锕 à ( n. ) (chem.) actinium

    呵 ā (phonetic particle)
