What about the Boise State running back and his fiance?
Why are they getting racial threats? I mean, c'mon, where's all the Vick haters who say nothing is about race anymore? If racism is so minimal in this country, why are they recieving threats? He's black, she's white. He's the running back that pulled off the Statue of Liberty play with Jared Z. Why can't they just be happy, why is it that these racist clowns just cant accept it? Where are all my "it has nothin' to do with race, racism plays no role in our country anymore" Vick haters?
Yeah, okay. Like all threats are from black people, if you enough of an idiot to believe that. That's what you want to believe.
Don't wanna answer the question do you? What's the matter, can't face the facts? If it was a question about Vick, everybody would be all over it.

Man some people just hate. I mean look at it like this....Ian Johnson is a decent RB for Boise State. He led the country in scoring, and was among the leaders in rushing. His team pulled off one hell of a win against OU. As a matter of fact, he scored the winning 2-point conversion. Then he kisses his girl and proposes to her. That's some Hollywood kind of stuff. I admit, I'm kinda jealous of him. Not b/c of his race (I'm black as well), but I'm jealous that this guy from some unknown college is living the ultimate fantasy....win a BCS game in an upset fashion and propose to his girl on the same night. I mean what if Johnson was stuffed on that play and if Bosie lost, would he still get on a knee and propose?
But some people hate, just because they are ignorant. It's simple as that. They are just ignorant. Yes, racism does play a part to an extent, but I believe ignorance is the bigger issue in this situation. One person's happiness has and will always be another person's envy. Alot of people are jealous of the fact that Ian Johnson, the same guy that graced the cover of Sports Illustrated and admitted that his favorite hobby is 'knitting', not only is preparing for a wedding, but trying to make a run for this year's Heisman. Plus, once he's done with this year, he'll probably move on to the NFL. Okay yeah his fiance is white, but damn, it's the year 2007....how many interracial couples and families are in this country? I'd say close to millions. People just need to get a grip on this shameless ignorance. Don't hate, just appreciate.
But moving on to the Vick case....this has everything to do with race. Let's take a look at the situation. The media has never portrayed Black quarterbacks in a positive light for quite sometime now. I'll begin with Doug Williams...he was the first quarterback (only McNair and McNabb have started since) to start a Super Bowl (Super Bowl XXII). He happened to crush (no pun intended) the Broncos in that game. Is Doug Williams in the Pro Football Hall of Fame? No. Now Williams might not have the numbers of a John Elway, Dan Marino or Joe Montana.....Williams may not have been in the same category as Elway, Marino and Montana, but damn, he was the first Black quarterback to win and play in the Super Bowl. Shouldn't that at least make you a "shoe-in" vote for the Hall of Fame? I would think so. Now lets look at other Black QB's....
Randall Cunningham, he was a great QB. He had the flash before Vick stepped on an NFL field. Cunningham could also sling the ball 70 yards downfield. But playing on teams like Philly and Minnesota (also Dallas and Baltimore briefly), he never was able to get the media off his back. From his relationship with Whitney Houston to his questionable decision making on the field, Randall is placed in the same category as Warren Moon....Black QB played so long, without a ring.
Speaking of Warren Moon.....49,325 pass yards, 291 passing TD's....countless losing seasons and no ring. Oh yeah, and he beat the hell out of his wife and family.
Donovan McNabb.....star QB. The face of the Eagle Franchise. But let's face it, in college he couldn't win the "big game", so should we expect him to win in the pros? I mean that's ridiculous, 3-straight conference game appearances: 1 Super Bowl appearance and not even close to winning a ring. Plus "injury problems"? Please, there's nothing wrong with McNabb, except his pride. You know things are bad if the NAACP claims you don't "represent your races struggle" on the ball field.
Daunte Culpepper. Decent QB out of college. Yeah he had problems holding onto the ball, and he's also had problems holding onto big games. He hasn't amounted to anything. Just a tight end's body lining up behind a center with the ball-handling skills of a waterboy. Anytime you attempt to throw and the ball ends up 2 yards behind your head.....just look for a new day job.
Kordell Stewart, he was the face of the Steelers for like a bathroom break. As soon as he "Slashed" in the NFL, he "Slashed" right out. Speaking of "Slash", how many people have worn the #10 after he left?
Aaron Brooks, a medicore QB. He doesn't even deserve mention, execpt for the fact that he's Vick's first cousin.
Shaun King, ditto. Well at least he won a ring in Tampa. Which should've been Dungy's first ring.
Rodney Peete, that guy was so old. But he was a career backup mostly so why bother mentioning.
Steve McNair, he couldn't go to the Titans training facility before they shipped him to Baltimore. Then this recent DUI incident....come on. McNair was one the hardest working guys on that Titan franchise. He's done something Warren Moon couldn't do for the franchise...take them to a Super Bowl. But that's how he gets treated in Nashville?
Mike Vick?, you decide.......
But the point I'm making is that we haven't had a Black QB that we can really call "great" execept for Doug Williams. They have either been portrayed as "irresponsible", "unprofessional", "flighty", or downright an embarrassment. I'm not saying theses players were not good in their own way. Clearly, they had to have talent, or else they wouldn't have made it to the NFL. But I'm just stating that we as black fans have never been able to really pull for a Black QB since Doug Williams. I hope it all changes once guys like Vince Young and Troy Smith, etc. begin careers in the NFL.
And I'll leave you with one more statement.....If I've typed all this and not receive best answer, something is clearly wrong. LOL.

This is the first I heard he was getting threats. Hell I didn't even think there was and issue I didn't really notice the black and white thing, nor do I care. I am happy for them. it was a cool moment when he proposed on national TV after winning the game I don't care what color a couple is if they are happy more power to them.
The people sending them threats are just jealous and or dumb racists.
I hope the guy has another great season and he and his wife have a long happy marriage.
I do believe that there is racism around this country I live in the South so i have seen examples of it, but unfortunately it goes both ways. I hope one day people will just start seeing other people and not there skin color

I am a Vick hater and not because he is black, but because he is an egotistical spoiled brat that never grew up. It is clear to me that by his actions and his brother, Marcus' actions, that his mother was absent during most of his up-bringing.
As for the RB from Boise State, first of all, why is it inconceivable to you that some of the threats could be from blacks? Is it because you think that blacks can't be racist? I am sure that that there are plenty of people in this country that are racist, including blacks, whites, Asians, Arabs, etc., it is human nature. But, you know what, it is like that all over the world.
My advice to you is to stop watching the Paula Zahn news pieces, turn off the Malcolm X movie and take down the Black Panther poster. Live your life the better things around you and try to only deal with the hate. It seems that you are losing a portion of it by trying to make everyone be like you.

I live outside of Boise and move here 8 years ago from Seattle and grew up with close friends of almost every race. I have no problem with the marriage. I will say sadly that there is a percentage of people in Idaho that is races toward all none Caucasian people. There are left overs from the skin heads here and old time cowboys/ rancher types. I think like how some of the south-eastern states tend to be. I say if Ian & Krissy are in love let them be. Not easy to find that and I do believe our country was founded to let you have persuite of happiness

It's really simple, Boise happens to be in.... that's right IDAHO, the proud home of a whole bunch of retarded white supremacists. I had a friend from Idaho who told me about her dad's license plate frame said "KU" (As in the university) because he was a big college b-all fan, and everyone on the highway would hunk and cheer him on because I guess KU stands for some crazy stupid white supremacist group or something. I don't care what people say, there is definitely racism in some parts of the country... I notice it, and I am a white male.

All I can say is this:
Go 'head Ian, marry that girl. If I knew you personally, I'd have your back. Most of the threats are probably coming from OU fans anyway.....

You do know that the threats he is receiving is from blacks right? They want him to stay black.
Who said ALL threats are from blacks? Why do you have to blame blacks for ALL threats? Man, thats a typical racist remark from you.

I say that if that man loves a white woman so be it. If that's who he wants to be with that is none of my business, I don't agree with it but I can't tell him who to love and I wish the two of them well.
