Tattoo questions?
I'm gonna get my first one in a couple of months, a butterfly on my left shoulder. I was wondering if there was anything that people think I should know before I get it done. Also, does it hurt a lot? How long does it take to heal? how much did yours cost? How did you choose the exact design? Thanks:)

Make sure you REALLY want that tattoo before you go. will you still ike it in 5-10 years? Most places have tattoo books that you can flip through so you can pick a design there, bring in your own for them to copy or if many artists can design one for you with your specifications. If you enjoy tanning, or wearing shirts that show your back summer is probably not the best time to get a tattoo as you need to keep it covered for a period of time afterwards for proper healing. The pain threshold for every person is different so some people say its moderate pain others cry during the procedure. but YES it will hurt. Costs depend on the size and colours and detail of the tattoo, also the reputation of the tattoo artist and the establishment. However, because they are putting a permanent mark on your body, make sure you go somewhere that is safe, clean and reputable. I'd always rather pay more for the assurance of quality than save some $$ and have a tattoo with bleeding ink and infection.

Well, if you get a good artist, it should cost in the hundreds. Make sure all the equipment is sterilized before it's used on you, and you might want to check to see if the parlor has a good reputation. You don't want to get infected. And clean it alot once you get it done, and stay out of the sun for a while. A butterfly, how nice...
