Jehovah's Witnesses?
The WTS makes the claim, "So there was no clergy class within Christian congregations of the first century." (Jehovah's Witnesses - Proclaimers of God's Kingdom, pg. 35). Based on the information below, how can the Watchtower Society make these claims?
Bishop - comes from the Greek word "episkopos" - Acts 20:28, Phil 1:1, 1Tim 3:1,2, Tit 1:7. See Gr-Engl Interlinear. Also, see footnote on pg. 35 of Jehovah's Witnesses Proclaimers of God's Kingdom to see how the present English word "bishop" came from the Greek word "episkopos".
Priest - comes from the Greek word "presbuteros" - Acts 16:4, 1Tim 5:17, Jas 5:14, Tit 1:5, 1Pet 5:1. See Gr-Engl Interlinear. Also, see footnote on pg. 36 of Jehovah's Witnesses Proclaimers of God's Kingdom to see how the present English word "priest" came from the Greek "presbuteros".
Deacon - comes from the Greek word "diakonos" - 1Tim 3:8,10,12, Phil 1:1. See Gr-Engl Interlinear.

My grandmother was one and I can only say this JW's were started by a man that escaped from a mental institution and they couldn't put him back because he had become to "popluar" He went through 3 names for his clan before settleing on JW's and it sticking without too many problems. People were coming after them.
First they believe that only 144,000 will go to heaven and rule with Jesus. NOT true. The 144,000 are referring back to the 12 tribes of Israle.
Second you can only be baptised if htey say it is ok and that is after a test they come up with and you fall under thier leadership for at least a year. The bible says anyone who wants to come should come and beware of the man who denies him/her. Rather that person be an adult or a child.
Otherwise they rewrote their bible to suite their needs.

Acts 20:28-the word in Strong's is indeed #1985-episkopos, yet the definition is not of a paid clergyman. It is "overseer(s)".
For the other verses? Strong's #1984+#1985 are referenced with the same definition.
It is similar with all your other claims.
Yet, how is it that there is only one head to the congregation, and it has really more to do with headship?
You see, according to the Bible, the hierarchy is simply this.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn the head of the Christ is God.
If the Bible commanded hierarchy is that the head of EVERY MAN is the Christ, how can you harmonize a clergy hierarch between EVERY MAN and the Christ?
Jesus said that all his disiplce are to be brothers, meaning, they would all be on equal ground, with none elevated above the other.
If you look into the history of the use of these words to separate and elevate certain men above the others in the congregation, you will have found the origins of the apostasy that Jesus had prophesied.
I am not a JW, but this fact is obvious to anyone who studies the Bible referencing to the original languages (I do not read or speak the originl languages so I rely upon Strong's and Greek/English translations to direct me) that there was absolutely no preist/bishop/deacon class as used as titles elevating men in the congregation.

The JW's are clueless. Every congregation SHOULD have the structure of a prophet, priest and king(ie 3 people in leadership). This is the structure they had in SYNOGOGUES in the first century, and somewhat continues today. Christianity, including the JW's, have rejected their JEWISH roots through the MESSIAH, and so they worship a different god. Thats why you see all forms of 'religions' in Babylon, er, the U.S. today.

Same way any religion makes claims, by wanting them to be true.
Christians make all sorts of ridiculous claims about God and Jesus in the same way.
Too bad facts and truth don't seem to matter.

As far as I'm concerned, you're ALL a bunch of self-deceiving idiots making pointless arguments about made-up crap.

They make alot of claims that can be debunked with biblical verses if one chooses to look.
