If jesus went to heaven, how was his death a sacrifice?

What exactly did he sacrifice?

He didn't sacrifice his life, because he got a new (better) life in heaven...

if you trade a rusty old beat up car for a brand new shiny car, that's not a sacrifice, that's an upgrade...

Plus, his human body couldn't live forever...

He only spent a few days being tortured, which, compared to the infinite years he is (and will be) spending in heaven, is not a very big sacrifice...

Update:

BTW: please read ALL of the above before answering...

You don't have to believe what I am about to tell you. This is why Christians see what Jesus did as the ultimate sacrifice..

    John 8:58

Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.

Here Jesus was claiming to be God. Being God means that He is the self existent One the One who always is.. He is not constrained by time itself. He will always be everywhere. This means that His torture on the cross wasn't for a few short hours but that He will hang on that cross for all time. It's an eternal sacrifice.. Jim

Its like you said " he got a new life in Heaven".. because flesh and blood cannot inherit the Heavens.( 1 Cor 15:50)

That Jesus Christ was resurrected as a spirit creature because of having laid down his human life as a sacrifice in order to pass beyond the “curtain, that is, his flesh,” the apostle Peter testifies, writing: “Why, even Christ died once for all time concerning sins, a righteous person for unrighteous ones, that he might lead you to God, he being put to death in the flesh, but being made alive in the spirit.” (1 Pet. 3:18) Thus he left his flesh forever behind and ascended to heaven with the “blood,” that is, the value of his perfect human sacrifice.

Jesus death was a sacrifice b/c he did not have to die for any of us. Would you have died for a people who you knew would one day disown, beat down, and question your name and existence. God gave his only son Jesus to die and be tortured on a cross. After all of this Jesus rose and went to prepare a place for those who would be faithful and praise his name regardless of the criticism and heartaches of this world. Furthermore, if Jesus did not sacrifice his life, there would be no heaven and we all would go to hell.

he did sacrifice his life. He gave his physical life for us. God knew Jesus was going to heaven. and death was a price Jesus said for our sins. but still he did what was right and which was dying for our sins. and Yes there is better life in heaven but you only get 1 chance on earth.

He did sacrifice his life. Just because he got a new (better) life in heaven, doesn't mean he didn't give up his earthly life.

An upgrade is still a sacrifice. You're giving up the original.

He was crusified and that paid for all sins and Jesus didn't have to die for us he could have called down angels to help him. I thank him that he did die for us. We were not of Jesus's kind we aren't jews he would only care for his kind when they turned against him he turned to the jentiles and he gave us a chance.

  • uh no. you need to read the Bible

    there is a reason why?

Jesus was the sacrifice for humanity, he suffered as a human, he was the perfect sacrifice!

because he was obedient God! glorify himself in Jesus!

Infinite torture is not necessary. .

His suffering was both physical and spiritual.

Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit

True. .If Jesus was going to pay (take the place) for our sins, then the punishment should be the same for him as it is for us.

    ETERNITY in hell.

Jesus should be there right meow. . paying for our sins and every sin which will be committed in the future.

He sacrificed very very little compared to fallen police officers, military folks, firefighters, countless mothers who died protecting their children....

    Jesus = not impressive.
