I am assuming you were born and still live day to day as a man. you need a smaller size than the charts say you dont have and hips and the skirts theese days are cut low so waist size means nothing to you go with your hip mesurment match them up chances are your gonna need a 5 I have the same waist mesurments as you and 7 and up are to big in the hips dont even think about anything ending in an even number the odd are for jrs they have slimmer hips then the even numbers missies. think of it this way tops add 2 sizes i.e M mens =XL womens, you have shoulders to compensate for with bottoms its backwards you dont have hips. hope that helps.

Look at the charts on Amazon, they ask the retailer about your size measurements. Most of the time a 40 inch waist equates to a size 12~14 and skirt sizes -- at least jean skirts -- tend to be exactly cut to match perfectly with that size.

A man in a skirt will want to loose a bit of weight. It will surprise you at first they way you look, but it is entirely possible to get a skirt to perfectly fit like an hour glass on a male -- I know, I've done it and it drives women wild, because I look better than they do in a skirt and they ALWAYS say "Damn, you look really sexy in a skirt !"...it happens so often I'm beginning to think they all think alike...lol ;-)

Skirts have a LOT to offer men. You have breathing room, flexibility, they're easy to maintain and you won't get sweaty on hot and humid days where it counts. No more fighting crotch issues like yeast infections, fungus, mold, etc...sweaty pants crotches are a thing of the past and driving...omg...soooo much better in a skirt that you'll be hooked.

The only issue I've found is that the very first time you wear a skirt in public, say a denim knee length skirt with a polo top, you'll be nervous for about 10 minutes. After the first car goes by you'll suddenly have a serious revelation...you'll wonder why you even got nervous in the first place...ahhhhhh, freedom ! :">

The world is changing...change with it or your kids will be left behind...

From what I know about waist sizes in men's and women's clothing if you are a women's like size 16, then you are a men's 36. So if you are a 32-33 try size 12 and go from there. Remember though, the clothing sizes differ from company to company. My sizes vary depending upon the brand. Good luck in finding some jean skirts!!! I'd try something like the Fashion Bug maybe, or Wal-Mart, Fed Meyer's...not sure what's local where you are.

old navy has great fitting skirts, or try the gap. 32-33 might be a 7-8 and up to a 9.
