What is the relationship between humor/ laughter and spirituality?

I agree with neutralzen and Valerie. I strongly believe a positive mindset and a self-depreciating sense of humour are conducive to spiritual 'advancement'.

Perhaps it is 'being at ease'. Being true to oneself and where we need to be is a great feeling.

Certainly I find that when I look around at the amazing world I find myself in and contemplate how 'lucky' I am, the joy just bubbles up inside and I can't help laughing out loud! I'm grinning now, just thinking of it!

Of course, perhaps I'm just crazy! But it's a nice kind of crazy, if there is such a thing!

I snicker alot, yet i don't know that i'm somewhat non secular. in basic terms at peace possibly. My laughter isn't approximately humor, most of the time it somewhat is in basic terms thoroughly happy laughter. on the different hand, i know a few very non secular people who're constantly deadpan extreme, and a few that are actually not non secular that are an identical way. i might say it is not rapidly proper (based on the human beings i know).

It's simple...those who are positive have a positive mind because they seek to see positive qualities in others, and have positive effects on others (compassion). It's like fertilizing your mind so positive things will grow, and spiritual epiphanies are always positive.

With a positive mind comes bliss and spiritual contentment. Those who are angry or discontented with things are too busy being discontent to be happy and spiritually aware, there is only ever one moment at a time, after all.

At times when we are tempted to magnify our self-importance, if we stop to contemplate the infinity of the greatness and grandeur of our universe and the myriad of self realized personalities about, our own self glorification becomes sublimely ridiculous, verging on humorous. One of the functions of humor is to help all of us take ourselves less seriously. Humor is the divine antidote for exaltation of ego. It also should function as an automatic safety valve to prevent the building up of excessive pressures due to serious self contemplation.

those that are at ease in their relationship with father are filled with love and joy. the desire to share this love/fellowship is what we are suppose to do. And yes we are quick to find humor most everywhere.

I think truly spiritual people learned how to enjoy living life. We all need to enjoy life.
