The other day I was actually rude to someone or did not acknowledge them...?

Does this as a member of the POLICE affect you when you are out there on duty and someone is suddenly rude to you, or do you accept the abuse as part of your job.....You could arrest that person for that could'nt you......................................................

I don't think you can arrest a person for being rude to you. I am not a police officer and therefore i can't answer this question. what does it say in your training manual? i know you can charge someone with disorderly conduct their actions affect others. were you physically hurt?

You cannot arrest some one for just being rude to you. You can however wonder why that person is going out of their way to be rude. That would be called "reasonable suspicion" and would give me a reason to investigate further.

If the person is being more than rude in a public area where other people or children are present, then yes, an arrest can happen...it is called "disorderly conduct." The police are expected to hear a litany of crap from the public..but they are allowed to protect the ears of the citizens.

You cannot arrest a person for being rude or for not acknowledging you, unless it involves refusal to submit to questioning about a driver's license or other material, or that becomes abusive and violent.

In any job, you will run into people who are rude. You just have to learn to ignore them and not allow them to upset you. Many people have reason not to like the police, because they have had some bad experiences with them. If a policeman understands this and sets a good example by being courteous himself, he or she can help erase this bad image.

I would NEVER be rude to a Police Officer! Not in my life. Number one reason RESPECT. #2 reason: I would be scared for they are in authority. Example: One day at the State Fair this 2 Police Officer's were sitting on their horses (beautiful), we were standing there admiring the horses and how well trained they are. Ånyway someone in the crowd walking by yelled out, "Hey learn how to ride it not only sit on it!" Well one of the Officer's wheeled his horse around and looked (anger expression) at a man standing a little aways; and the man waved up his two hands and said, "I didn't say that it was that guy (pointing at the crowd)."

Police Officer's are only human (just like everybody else) and they got feelings too; even when in uniform. If anyone out there thinks that the uniform changes them as a human, well they better think twice. Its beyond me why anyone would disrespect a Police Officer. I wish I had one living next door to me. No lawbreaker would come to my house! I like them too because I have one thing in common with them; they LOVE German Shepherd's and so do I. I own a pure bred and am happy with him. No one in their right mind will come to my door thinking their going to mess with me and my family!

I would think the abuse is part of your job to a certain extent, but I would also think that the person would have a lot of nerve to be rude to a police person. After all, they carry guns.

Being rude is not a crime and police are trained to deal with rude people.
