You have a talent for finding out about someone ---?

Do you think that it is a good idea to look at those men and women in the POLICE force and try to find out who they are

individually just because you are nosy about the lives that

they lead...After all outside of their jobs they are just as talented --- if not more so than anyone else

That is why most departments have IA or an omnibudsman. I don't snoop into personal lives of the fellow officers who I rely on to cover my back on a daily basis.

On the other hand, when a dirty cop comes to my attention, I don't try to look the other way. The only thing worse than a drug dealer is a dirty cop.

police have wives/husbands and families and mates and partners and they depend on each other and are close to those. If that police person was your neighbor then you would probably be able to know them a tad, but usually they keep to themselves. frankly, I've seen your questions and think you should not be so nosy but should rather have and concentrate on your own career. When the police do something extra or go out of their way for someone (like saving a life) or for the community then they are recognized, and that's enough for them and should be enough information for you as well.

I only ask that a policeman be intelligent, somewhat educated, and has some knowledge of the law. I don't want to contend with a strutting, aggressive, rude and bullying policeman, out looking for a kid to manhandle for a chance to feel superior. I don't want a policeman who would jump at a chance to stop a Black who is doing nothing wrong. I want one to be smarter than that.

I do not know how talented they are outside their jobs. I suspect some are talented and some are not. The fact that they wear a uniform doesn't automatically make them gifted.

Most of the police I know I have met because a lot of them marry nurses for some reason. So a lot of nurses that I worked with have police officers for wife's or husbands. They all have a tendency not to spend a lot of time hanging around with "civilians" because it is difficult for them to talk about what they do with people who don't understand their jobs. Police officers are of course just as talented and interesting as anybody. But they do - like nurses - tend to keep to people who are in there own line of work.

I think if you see them somewhere public & you make some sort of eye contact then, by all means engage in a conversation. Otherwise I would just mind my own business. I'm not that lonely to waste my time being nosy. Actually the question is confusing. Are you just trying to see how many people respond. I mean come on cops ARE people too...tehe

Would you feel comfortable if you found out that someone was digging into your background? Off Duty Police try to blend into society. Some are talented and some are just ordinary people.

My father is a cop and it is no biggie if you check him out outside the force he wants to know you and is well known in the city in which he works and that is a big plus. Being a cop is not easy in this day and age.

I think that the ppl who work in police when they wear their uniform to go for job, they "wear" and the demanding character. They cannot behave in their jobs like in their private life...so to find out who they really are you have to meet them in their "private - free - without uniform" life. The police ppl are the ppl who successfully discriminate their personal from their career life; when they are in their work they are policeman and they do not behave like in their family - friends, when they are in their home they do not behave like a policeman. Of course there are exceptions...!!!

Source(s): I am consultant in the police force, so I collaborate with them a lot, and most of my friends are policemen - policewomen.

Police have the same varied interests as anyone in civilian life.

I love the police. Thank God Almighty for them. What would

    we do without them.
