It completly depends on your style. You can make nice furniture from about any species, Oak, Ash, Birch, Cherry, Walnut, Pine, Hickory. It depends on the style. If you want the "Fine Furniture" Look go with cherry or walnut or an exotic hardwood such as Teak or Mahogany. For more modern style you could go with a Maple or a dark stained(expresso) Oak. Ruistic look go with pine, oak or birch. Also as a hint for flat surfaces such as sides and back use a trimmed plywood of the same species. Also If you are going to paint it use Poplar. Its strong, easy to work with and cheap, just doesn't finish well.

Commercial furniture is made from 4 main wood species: cherry, maple, oak and walnut. And, despite what many people think, this wood is only applied in a veneer on the surface of the underlayment. There is rarely anything made anymore from "solid oak" or "solid maple". Oak is extremely hard so is difficult to work with.

The best wood to make furniture from is Teak.... and by far!

Teak is durable, easy to work, easy to care for and Teak is also considered a high end wood... If you're making furniture, you can't go wrong using Teak...

It looks like laminated furniture, the laminate has a wood grain finish. You can get light wood like that such as blonde wood or pine that resemble that. It is a wall unit-- not all wall units are for TVs; some are for displays.

Oak is one of the strongest woods. However, cedar and

cypress and more weather hardy, so it depends on what kind of furniture you are wanting to build.
