I need to replace a mother board on a Compaq Pressario 6000T, any recommedations?
Obviously, I need one that is compatible and comparable or better then what is in there now. And, I don't want to spend a whole lot on it, or I would just buy a new computer.
Thanks

If memory serves, you won't be able to use your harddrive with the Operating system that's currently loaded on it with a new mobo. This because Compaq, like all the other manufacturers, have spent millions having a BIOS program developed for their particular computer/s. This BIOS program is burned into a BIOS 'chip',(integrated circuit), and installed on the mobo,(motherboard). Once the OS,(for example WindowsXP Home), is installed, it develops a 'codec' for the BIOS, and other components in your system, and this is relayed to Microsoft when your OS is activated. Other OS manufacturer's have their system also, making it a 'proprietary' system. If you have Windows, phone Microsoft Support, tell them that you changed the mobo, and they'll lead you thru activating Windows again. (Yes this is the first computer that Windows has been installed on, is the answer)
