quality tableware?

i am looking into investing into some quality tableware. i know people usually register for china and such when they are getting married but i personally have no intentions of getting married anytime within the next five years. i have always wished my grandmother had some to pass on but no one in my family is really all that into things like that. i would like to start purchasing my own and would like to know what i should look for. i want something that i will be able to pass on. thanks in advance

go to a nice dept store and check out what they have. Decide on what you like after looking and thinking about it. quality is not just a brand name and cost. If it appeals to you, invest in it. A lot of people buy china and there are lots of brands to pick from. try to invest in something that is going to be around for awhile so that you can continue to expand your collection. I like spode. Also think about a nice everyday set like Mikasa

This is fun! I love setting a good table.

First, decide what you like. Check out some top manufacturers like Royal Doulton, Denby, Wedgewood, or Waterford. Ooh- or Portmeirion. (Pretty!). Each one has several patterns!

Next, I would check to make sure that what you love is available at the re-stockers. Just to make sure that you will be able to replace the dinner plate that gets dropped at Thanksgiving in a few years...

    Good luck! And Have fun!
