YES!!! It depends on the antibiotic, and when you are ovulating. I got pregnant with my son that way!

It's a myth.

The effects of antibiotics on birth control pills may be overstated — except in the case of one antibiotic, rifampin. Studies clearly show that rifampin decreases the effectiveness of birth control pills in preventing ovulation. However, rifampin isn't a widely used antibiotic. Chances are you wouldn't be taking it unless you had tuberculosis or had tested positive for the disease.
Hypothetically speaking, other antibiotics, particularly penicillin and tetracycline derivatives, could impair the effectiveness of birth control pills. However, no large studies have proved such an effect.

We do know there are certain medicines that diminish the effectiveness of BCPs. The common antibiotics we use shouldn't affect the metabolism of BCPs

While many people, including many doctors, believe that antibiotics interfere with the effectiveness of the birth control pill, the fact is there are very few medications that have actually been proven to decrease the pill's effectiveness. Studies do show that antibiotics can affect the excretion of contraceptive chemicals in urine, but levels in the blood do not change, and there is no increase in pregnancy rates.
A few medications do stimulate the liver's ability to metabolize contraceptive chemicals, and these medications may indeed lower the pill's effectiveness. If you are taking these medications, you should use a back-up method of contraception (like a condom) while using that medication and until you have completed an entire pill cycle. These medications are:
-- Rifampin (used to treat tuberculosis)
-- Phenobarbitol (sedative and anti-siezure medicine)
-- Phenytoin, Dilantin (anti-seizure medication)
-- Carbamazepine, Tegretol (anti-seizure medication)
-- Griseofulvin (potent anti-fungal)
Of these, only anti-seizure medications are widely prescribed. Common antibiotics do not cause a problem, but if you want extra reassurance, go ahead and use a condom while you are on the antibiotics and until that pack of pills is finished.

Oh Yeah completely possible- My doctor recommends a full cycle with protection before relying on the pills after being on antibiotics! You have to be very careful, because the antibiotics can cause your pills to loose effectiveness.

It is possible. Some antibiotics have reactions with the pill and cause it not to work properly. It's best to use another method of birth control when you are on antibiotics.

Antibiotics can reduce the effects of the pill. You would need to ask the dr about the type of antibiotics and wether they react to the pill that you are on.

In reality, there is only one ABX that messes with the effectifness of birth control. It is used to treat terburculosis and as long as you don't have TB, you should be fine.

yes because antibiotics affects your birth control pills making them useless for birth control but they will still regulate your period.
