Do you think Zionists over-use the term "Anti-Semitism"?
I have been even accused of being Anti-Semite for dividing 20 Billion over 4.9 Million and getting 4081.63 as a result. I'm serious... you can see it here:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/i...
I get the feeling that they just throw the accusation without even thinking about its meaning, or do they? Is it being confused with other terms like Anti-Judaism (religion), Anti-Israelis (Nation) or Anti-zionist (Political movement) while Semite is an ethnic race!
Could this backfire? Do you think the term is loosing its significance like the story of that guy who used to cry "Wolf"?
Is it just emotional blackmail, or do Zionists take these accusations seriously? Or is it some kind of collective Paranoia?
See what I mean, the first two Answerers just throw in the accusation automatically, one of them admiting he doesn't even know why because he wasn't able to open the link :-)
Any way here's that link again:
Can anyone, who is not Jewish or Israeli, critisize the policies of Israel without being accused of Anti-Semitism?
Or is it just an inovative way to silence opposition and critics?
Edit to Maxx P: I do admit that I am anti-Zionist, I oppose it as a Political movement, and hate its racial motivations. Opposing a political movement is my democratic right... and I don't see where is the link between this and between being a racist or as you like to call it Anti-Semite? Or are you deliberately confusing those concepts to cover this political movement with the sanctity of a religion or even the fatalism of an ethnicity just to silence opposition?

I couldn’t agree with you more, well done for raising a good point.
What the Zionists don’t realise is that, it is they that are doing so much damage to their agenda. We understand that the Zionists feel that Jewish people are the only ones that have a right to belong in the land of three great faiths. “The gods chosen people thing”
What us, ANTI- Zionists have a problem with, is whatever faith, political agenda or ideology concludes in ethnic cleansing of a group of people from their home land.
A person doesn’t have to belong to any faith or none, any country or any political ideology to know when an agenda is being deliberately clouded, by those that want to distract from the real issues of injustice.
If any one faith group or non- faith group would like a place that they think will serve their collective identity, they should have that right. I don’t agree that this outcome can only be achieved by taking the homes and lives of others.
The Israelis would no doubt build a good country if the current agenda wasn’t so racist to others including Christians and Muslims.
We know that racism is for people that are afraid and weak and we also know that people who throw words around like racist or anti- Semitic are often the racist ones themselves.
So yes it is emotional blackmail and there is paranoia in the Zionist camp. Its like anyone if you give up a belief even if you know in your heart it is wrong what else do you believe in. They don’t understand that many people don’t have a problem with Israel’s existence; the only problem is the greed and nastiness in the way that the land has been grabbed from others.
I hope that if the current agenda continues that the Jordanians cut off the water supply, Egyptians cut off the Gas and the US cuts off its funding. Then maybe some may emphasize with the Palestinians being trapped without the basic necessities.

Well, this is certainly a topical question! This issue seems to appear again and again. I think there is a difference between a person who is being racist (or anti semitic) and ignorant (genuinely doesn't know anything about Israel or zionism). I'm not Jewish myself; I grew up in a Jewish area of London and as a result many of my closest friends are Jewish. I can only speak from my experience of spending time with them and having many, many, MANY conversations about this topic. The only time I have ever seen any of my Jewish friends accuse someone of racism, is when the remark was so blatanly offensive that any decent person, of any faith, would find it spiteful. I've never personally known a Jewish person accuse another of 'anti semitism'. In my experience the opposite happens; they are highly reluctant to say it because, despite having suffered so much over time, Jewish people don't see themselves as victims, and certainly don't want others to see them this way! And isn't that one of the reasons why Israel is so vital to Jewish people? Because it restored a feeling of pride and autonomy in a people who had been persecuted and almost extinguished? Now for the ever thorny issue of anti - zionism. If you say you are 'anti zionist' then what you are saying is that you are opposed to the right of Israel to exist. In other words; there should be no Jewish homeland, in the area of the world where there have been Jews for almost 4000 years. Given that all other faiths and religions have their own lands, why shouldn't the Jews have one? There are 22 Muslim nations. Why can't there be one Jewish nation? Israel is TINY! Now you will say, I'm sure, that you are 'anti zionist' because you support the Palestinians. I support them too - I think they have suffered dreadfully and of course they need a state. But they, in turn, and the whole Arab world, must reject terrorism - and must acknowledge the right of Israel to exist. You are clearly articulate and intelligent and I think therefore you must know your history. Thus you will know that the original Palestinians WERE the Jews. Can a person be anti zionist, and not be anti semitic? I guess they can - I personally have never come across someone who hated Israel and liked Jews, though. Might be coincidence.... EDIT - JEHAN: What are you going on about - I've checked the Ha'aretz index etc and there is nothing like the topic you describe - clearly just more rubbish you can't substantiate. Pathetic.

I agree completely with Sahar; many Americans (the ones most likely to throw around the term "anti-Semitic") are so ignorant of historical culture that they have no idea that Arabs are the true historical Semites, and the Jews currently living in Israel are mainly of European origin.
I'd also like to note that there are probably more Zionists among the Christian faith than the Jewish faith. These Christians tend to be neo-con, right-wing born-agains; strange bedfellows indeed for the largely liberal Jewish population.
Since this is the case, equating "anti-Zionism" and "anti-Semitism" is an an unreasonable and downright incorrect conclusion.
Edit: AA, AWESOME response! You know your stuff, Girl!
And for anyone who may be interested; please read the book "They Dare To Speak Out" by former U.S. Congressman Paul Findley, to see the extent of how the Zionist agenda has infiltrated U.S. politics and policies. Talk about an eye-opener.

Oh hell yeah they over use that card.
A Jewish man once said "Anti semitism used to mean anyone who hated Jews (for being Jewish). Now it means anyone the Jews hate."
America has kind of let them have a lot of power and influence, and as a result of their humanity, they have abused it. Even against their fellow Jew who speaks out against them. Sad, huh? Don't worry, us gentiles, be they muslim, Christian, liberal or conservative, religious or secular, or even Jewish, are all getting this BS treatment under the guise of "secularism" and "political correctness."

they use it as a defence mechanism. they accuse others of being anti semite , so that everyone wouldnt dare utter a word against them. they dont confuse the terms, they just use them interchangeably according to the situation. we can say what we like without using this terminology to avoid stones thrown at us.
right is might . the right of the palestinians and those who speak on their behalf will be gained through Divine intervention as long as we keep it as a target. terms arent an issue except for them. they are just labels for the same kind of racist extermination of the rightful owners of the land.

The over-use by Zionists of the term "Anti-Semitism" is deliberate, and used for two main reasons:
- to silence critizism of the brutal Zionist repression and destruction of the Palestinian people who had the temerity to live in the land claimed by Zionists, whose very existance there for thousands of years there called into question the moral righteousness of Zionist cause;
- among western countries, anti-Semitism is one of the primary raison-d'etres for Israel, the more anti-semitism there is so the more justification for Israel's existance. So Zionists class anti-zionism as anti-semitism in order to prove that anti-semitism is on the rise. Also the better to garner support from Jews this is yet another tool in the campaign to thoroughly identify Israel with Judaism.
Here is a quote from Theodor Herzl, kind-of regarded as the founder of the Zionist movement:
"The antisemites WILL BECOME our most loyal friends, the antisemites nations will become our allies." (One Palestine Complete, p. 47).
I think this over-use has already backfired in that Zionists have become so identified with Jews and have committed so many atrocities while claiming to do so for the benefit of Jews, that some people have become more receptive to anti-Judaism especially those who've suffered from Israeli bombs. That's assuming one of the goals of Jews is to get rid of anti-semitism. It may not be the case that Israelis are trying to get rid of anti-semitism, since it is one of the primary raison-d'etres for the nation, and furthermore, many of their actions such as shutting the entire occupied West Bank, 3.5 million people, down under a 10-day round-the-clock curfew enforced under threat of death for violation so that Jews in the settlements and occupied East Jerusalem can freely travel about and enjoy a Jewish religious holiday seems designed to cause anti-semitism.
The accusation of anti-semitism against anti-Zionists or critics of Israel is mostly emotional blackmail and deliberate attempts suppress stories about atrocities committed by Israel, not to say that real anti-semitism doesn't exist.
Edit:
I have no question that Jews would like to see real anti-semitism (anti-Judaism) disappear, in its extreme form it's contributed to the worst atrocities of the last century. It's Zionist goals I question.

None knows what a zionist is, so they assume zionist is another word for jew used by anti-semites. Haha, ignorance.
The usage of anti-semite is so way out. If I didn't want my tax dollars going to Israel, then I would most likely be considered an anti-semite. That is how twisted the word is used.
If debating, just call the other person anti-semite. You win everytime.
- SaharLv 41 decade ago
yes i agree, it tends to designate all those who don't say amen to whatever they think or say. being a semite myself i find it rather bizarre to be called anti-semite each time i have a point of view that doesn't coincide with someone else's who turns out to be jew, we may be discussing cucumbers or who has the right to jerusalem, wouldn't matter much..
i don't think it's emotional blackmail, but more putting pressure on people

Zionists think they are God's chosen people, just ask one.
If that's not anti-christian
anti-atheist
anti- everything under the fukcin sun, then who cares what those brainwashed fools think.
since grade school all you hear is "holocaust" this
Diary of Ann Frank that.
They have been conditioned to think that way.
